And just to add some additional speculation: besides a person in the medical field a good butcher or cook would be capable of cutting cleanly... which it was is hard to determine - that is unless some tell-tale tool mark was left behind by the blade used...

Oh and I just noticed: What is the connection to the Navy/Marines? I guess I missed it, cause there should be one for NCIS to become involved...

"There was an inscription. It said, 'Sweet Sixteen. Kayla Mason.' I just took a wild guess and assumed it belonged to Kayla Mason," Abby said sarcastically.
