Bravo, great work. Whether or not my opinion means anything, you write angst wonderfully. This oneshot captured my emotion; I've never read anything like it before...I was confused for some part of it, but I guess that was the allure. It was captivating- write more like this soon.

So sad, and yet so beautifully angsty. I love that in the end, they just wanted to be together, and they were able to find peace unlike Inuyasha and Kikyou.

Now excuse me while I go sob my heart out, ;)

Wow.

That's pretty much the only compliment that is good enough to express the emotion in this story.

Before, I give you some other comments about it, I have a question. When "Miroku" killed Kohaku in front of Sango, and when "Sango" destroyed Miroku's pride as a monk and a possible partner for the future, wouldn't the real Miroku and Sango be suspicious of seeing the other again so soon at a considerable distance?

Take Sango for example. "Miroku" killed her brother. Sango threatened his "life" with her sword, but after he finished taunting her and she vowed to kill him, wouldn't she be suspicious of seeing him again "standing on the bank of the lake"?

When Naraku pitted Kikyou and Inuyasha against each other, he stole the jewel first and taunted Kikyou, wounded her, etc. Then he put the jewel back and while Kikyou was struggling to move, he went and tricked Inuyasha by pretending to be Kikyou. The time frame was extremely essential in making Kikyou and Inuyasha think they had betrayed each other (eg Kikyou was too wounded to move right away so while she was struggling to walk or whatever, he went and tricked Inuyasha so Inuyasha would get the jewel). However, in yours, you implied the Naraku conflict well, but the time frame for each of the "betrayals" doesn't give enough time to make the real MirokuSango fight believeable enough. One minute "Miroku" betrays Sango, but she doesn't get injured and she notices him on the bank of the lake...

Overall, wonderful fanfic once again. You really know how to capture the character's emotions well.

Oh, geeze!

Wonderful, as usual, and emotional. And real - I can't get over how very real these pieces of angst seem.

aw, this was so sad! now I'm all depressed . . . *mopes* you are SO awesome at writing angsty stories! I just love your unique style of writing! it's different from pretty much everyone! in the beginning, I was confused at first about the role of the shape-shifter. I had actually forgotten about it, and I only remembered at the end of this, and I understood. I almost cried when I read this! and what I love about your writing style, you get each and every single character's personality just perfectly - I could hear Sango and Miroku talking in my head, and it sounded exactly what they would say in whatever Rumiko Takahashi writes! I loved this! another wonderful story written by May! keep writing! you are so awesome!

It sounds like a long time to work on an one-shot, but this is really beautiful, so the work paid off. After I read it, I was left quite speechless. I still sort of am in a way. Great work!

O.O

Indeed, it was good... I loved the bit between Sango and Miroku at the beginning, and how Kohaku watched it. I'm still a little confused... I do like comparing Miroku and Sango to Inuyasha and Kikyou, and how thye could be afraid of that happening. Very cool.

Really good story. I love that it was in canon. :)

I think that you hit every note just right. I could see Naraku being able to needle their doubts about one another just enough to make them hesitate. It was horrifying and terrific.

In a way, as sad as the ending was, it wasn't devastating. There's a lump in my throat, but it was so fitting, too. It was tragic and sweet and I adored it.

You were spectacularly successful in capturing the emotion. Good job.
