I started reading this around 9 last night and have not stopped, except for sleeping and working. I'm only on Chapter 13, but I wanted to take the time to review since I probably should have earlier.
I really do like it. I like the way you portray Snape and I'm really loving the fact that you're not turning Sarah into a Mary Sue (thank merlin! there are too many of those in the fanfiction world ;) )
I also wanted to comment on your chapter titles, which I only just realized that they're all quotes from The Phantom of the Opera, which is my favorite musical of all time (other than A Very Potter Musical =D ).
This story is great and I can't wait to continue reading!

Where do I begin?

Well first, I came to this rather late. I didn't discover it until this year. Where the hell was I?

Second, I actually worked at a major entertainment magazine for 7 years first as a writer and later as an editor -- which I only mention to so that you know I have a small amount of credibility when I give feedback.

Third, the absolute measure of how good I think something is is when I'm jealous of it so...

...DAMN I WISH I'D THOUGHT OF THIS! (pardon my French,lol)

I had to print out the first 20 chapters just so I'd be able re-read them everywhere I went. I know you've had TONS of accolades, justifiably so, so let me just try to mention what I loved. What I love most is that I can imagine Sarah Darkglass existing whether Snape was there or not. I think she has a rich full background and a distinctive voice all her own. I also love your balance of romanticism with a strong dose of unsentimental reality. Your details are on point, concrete, never excessive and believeable (My spelling sometimes sucks). Yet your prose is quite lyrical in places as well as being streamlined and smart. I can't remember which chapter it was but at the end of it Sarah says she wants to give him a happy ending and Severus says there aren't any "only moments of grace." Beautiful.

I've read fan fiction that has great plot but lousy characterization; or stories with great characters but nothing actually happens plotwise (forgive the sentence construction; I'm going off the top of my head here). I've read fan fics with MAJOR angst but no grounding in reality; they leave you feeling as if you're floating in space. I've read fiction that completely fails in one or the other areas but nails the moral conundrums. You on the other hand write very integrated fiction. You have strong characters -- you keep Snape IN character which to me requires a certain fearlessness because he can be vicious and you LET him get vicious. You use the OoTP plot very well. It's not my favorite part of the story because I LOATHED Umbridge but that's not your fault. You understand the psychological and moral implications of what's happenig to Sarah and you let the reader make up their own mind about it. (By the way I love your description of Occlumency; it makes sense to seeing it as switching roles).

If I have any quibbles at all it's that I would have liked a stronger physical description of Sarah. I am not good at this myself and am currently trying to improve my skill in this area (I write my own Potter fan fic and am currently in the midst of trying to nail down my own original female character's physical description so I'm hardly an expert here). It also seems as if you're going with the physical description of Snape that JK Rowling gave us; I could be wrong. I have to admit, I can't do that. I'm too obsessed with Alan Rickman to use any other description, lol. That's it! Big whoop. It's hardly worth mentioning but I didn't want to gush too much and weird you out, lol. (Although that ship may have sailed, lol.)

I spent the last two days reading this. I was actually supposed to be finishing up my summer work for AP English...haha. ~.^ But I have the say that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS STORY! Please update. You'll make this year a little easier for me. *hopeless attempts to get you to do it* Thanks for an amazing story. I loved Snape from the beginning!

Yay! I was so happy to find out that you updated! I really like how you are approaching the epilogue. It seems rushed, but it gives the information that is needed. I'm going to be watching for your next post. ;)

I was so glad to see that you had updated! I can't wait to read more, this is probably my all-time favorite fanfic. I like the drabbles a lot, the characters and world you have created are still amazing. I would rather have a full-fledged sequel haha but I understand fully time constraints and life getting in the way.

Congratulations--you well deserve it! Terrifying little epilogue. I suspect the next one will be worse. (shudders)

Yay! Epilogue! I love how this weaves in with canon, but puts your own twist on things.

"The kiss was quick, almost perfunctory. But it meant the world to Sarah that he would pause for it." I loved that line!
