I've already reviewed this chapter, so I'm forced to do an anonymous review. I read this thing ... years ago ... at least two at any rate, and then forgot I had it in my alerts. I've been going through them the last couple of days and rereading things there in the hopes to get rid of the things that aren't updated anymore ... and I find I can't do that to this one.

It is an amazing piece of work. I am literally in awe in the characters. You've managed to keep all of them in character and changing is such little ways that are believable.

The story line is amazing and I find myself wanting to read it again and again, even though I've just finished it.

So, I will be keeping this story on my alerts with the eternal hope that you will someday decide to continue with this story.

I hate it when people write slash stories and one minute Harry is painfully straight and then he sees Whoever semi-coherent and he's suddenly gay, this story shows what it's like to suddenly like someone who you wouldn't think about...

its been 2 years, I was wondering if you have plans for finishing it?

wow, this is amazing - I love how dark it is, and the way you tell the story partly from the house elves perspective . . . totally took me by surprise when Snape was working for V, but I like it even better that way. Unfortunately I can't add it to my favorites because I only do that with finished stories, and I see you're not updating any more. Bummer!

Please please tell me this fic isn't abandoned? It's so darkly enthralling, this mix of sharp tenderness and bittersweet control that it just makes me shiver reading it. I would love to see more of this. Snape is so ambiguous in his intentions, so mixed in intent and well, twisted, that it's so fascinating to read. The contrast between how he acts during the day versus the night is also intriguing - especially how we see a bit from a House-Elf's point of view.

I think you've made me love House-Elves. No really, Flicker just gets to me. And I absolutely love things from Harry's POV too; how slowly, things begin to change in how he acts, what he expects, how he thinks. The ungentle submission being conditioned into him just completely grabs me because I want to see how it turns out. Perversely, I find myself wanting him to submit, just like Flicker does, because in between the messed-up-ness of Snape's head, I wonder if he doesn't have some sickly gentle part of him when it comes to Harry. The 'biting affection' as I think you called it somewhere. And finding out that the white room was the Bridal Room? That was a shiver moment. How the room itself is working to twist Harry...that's chilling. This whole story is a mix of the harsh and the gentle, and I so so want to read more of it. One thing I have been wondering, though - wouldn't Dumbledore have checked up on them or something at some point? I know they're in hiding, but still, I don't see Dumbledore completely abandoning them, even though he does trust Severus to keep Harry 'safe' (and that depends on what one's definition of 'safe' is).

Anyway, dark and lovely piece, can't wait for more.

I like Flicker's point of view. It reminds one that this story isn't quite what it seems. It also gives a sense of foreshadowing somehow.

This Snape is deliciously sadistic.
