Rignach 2005-11-16 . chapter 1Liked the idea and how it was written but sadly I noted in the author notes that it is only to get Akane together with Ranma. That takes all the fun out it as we all now know how it is ending. And Akane + Ranma is for me sadly (not really sad about it but it sounds better) a no no in fanfiction or I would read the manga/seeing the anime again. |

dogbertcarroll 2005-03-25 . chapter 1I read a better version of this story a year or
two ago. I think Nabiki was the one who
discovered it in that story. I remember something
about a mirror he buried under the bridge he
hides out under. It was better because it was
primarily about the way he dealt with things and
not just a cheap gimmick to fix him up with Akane. |
aondehafka 2005-03-25 . chapter 1 At this point you are no longer treating the characters as if they were real people. You are talking about someone who has been critically wounded psychologically, and in order to fix that damage he's going to be pushed together closer than ever with the very person who caused it? Nuh-uh, sorry, that won't fly. If there were any practictioners of Martial Arts Psychology out there, you'd be getting a challenge letter in your email if they read this. ^_^
Ranma needs to heal by learning to value himself. If he allows Akane to tell him whether or not he has value, then REGARDLESS of whether she tells him he's great or he's a loser then he is crippled inside and will never be a whole person. And if Cologne is wise enough to quickly take in all these details about Ranma and diagnose his problem so accurately, she would be wise enough to know that you don't help a battered, abused person (for that is EXACTLY what you have made Ranma out to be in your story) by telling, or even forcing, the one who did the abuse to stop it and then putting the two back together. The one who was hurt needs space and freedom to heal on his, or her, own. |
Demodragon 2005-03-25 . chapter 1 I've read this somewhere before, several years ago actually. |
ss4-link 2005-03-25 . chapter 1Wah! You suck make him go suicidal butwhen he dies have Akane say she loved him and then through some casue of magic or whatnot he comes back to life but thats up to you its good anyway. |
Baron Hausenpheffer 2005-03-24 . chapter 1This is a pretty good beginning; well-written and rather "bueno", if I do say so myself. The one and only critical thing I have to say is that you sure glossed over RANMA'S record. Sure, Akane does call him a pervert and an idiot pretty often (I think the freak thing is just fanon), but Ranma's pretty apt to call her a flat-chested, stupid, ill-tempered gorilla (among other things). All I'm saying is don't try to make a demon or a saint out of either of them; they are (like most of us) something in between.
Crap, this review got way lengthier than I intended. Oh, well. Great job, and keep it up! |
TheWhiteMonk 2005-03-24 . chapter 1 Not bad, a bit short, and it doesn't QUITE fit in with the canon, but it is a good idea. Please keep writing. |
 DerektheRogue 2005-03-24 . chapter 1My answer is..WHY BOTHER!
How about instead , she tries to fix it and does her usual oh I can't bear to actually say something nice about my fiance because our parents are forcing us , gets frustrated and takes it out on Ranma...Like always...
Only this time he snaps and his self-preservation instinct takes over and he KILLS THE ** SPOILED-BRAT-I REFUSE TO GROW UP AND ACCEPT THAT THINGS CAN BE MY FAULT-** QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE
INSTEAD!

Wonderbee31 2005-03-24 . chapter 1Hmm, interesting in several aspects, first off that it's Cologne who's basically helping Ranma and Akane get together. I wonder why? Also interesting hoe she percieves Ranma's life, his mom and dad love him, the ones that made and accepted a death contract when he was 5, that threw him in a pit of cats, sold him for food, that love? Rivals who attack him all the time, becase of his engagements, whil his "friend" sleeps in his fiancee's bed? I can see why Ranma would loathe himself, but I see very little of the love Cologne was talking about. I look forward to how you take this and where it goes from here on. |
Gangsta Spanksta 2005-03-24 . chapter 1Well first off, I think you have to make it obvious that this is an alternate universe in your story. Perhaps replay the fight between Ranma and Ryoga differently at the beginning. The reason is because the Mouko Takabashi is explained and shown too well in the anime to be Confidence or Arrogance. The way Ranma acts and poses for instance.
Also, this making it all Akane fault for Ranma hating himself bit in your story I'm not buying. The part about him having loving parents is a bit too much? Many of the characters in the Ranma universe could contribute to his self loathing. His dad is obvious. He could self loath himself because of his curse and his mothers man among man thing. Nabiki can cause problems as well as the others. |
A.Nonymous 2005-03-24 . chapter 1 When did Ranma get a fater who loves him?
We're talking about Genma right? The man who sold his son for a bowl of rice. And then again for a Yata...and once again for a basket of bamboo...and again, and again...who was that Russian looking guy at the end of the take-out-girl episode? Have you droped a MAJOR Alt universe on us here?
And then there's Ranma's Mother...who carries a katana around, risking major jail time, for the express purpose of cutting off Ranma's head if he's not being "manly" enough...
Ranma has friends? I guess the two perverts Hiroshi and what's-his-name count as sort-of friends. But they're perverts...more interested in seeing Ranma-chan naked than anything else.
As for the others. Kuno? Ryoga? Moose? Nabiki? The first three are out to kill/date him and the last...she sold him to the Yakusa, didn't she?
As to the "woman that loves him..." I suppose Cologne means Shampoo... But with someone like her to love your... I'd stick with Kasumi...
If you're going to have Ranma lothe himself, I don't think you can put all the blame on Akane... As far as I've seen, Tofu and Kasumi are about the only ones who haven't been grinding Ranma into dust...and Tofu left halfway through... I hear he's on walkabout in Australia.
But I see your problem though. If everyone is to blame Cologne isn't going to tell suggest that Akane fix it.
One last point though. If you take the premise that the "Anything Goes" school should really be called the "Seven Deadly Sins" school. Then Ranma's ki attack would be based on "Pride" rathern than "Confidence," which IS a negative. Also, Ryoga's would be "Rage," or probably "Impotent Rage" rather than "Depression." Akane would be "Envy" and so on...
Just look at Soun's ki attack, the "Demon Head" an attack to intimidate others into doing your work for you, "Sloth" at work. |
