I read this a while ago, but it came back to mind when I was freaking out about the needle for my flu shot last night. x_x So kudos on a memorable story!
I love how you kept how mature Chiriko is, though frightened. I wanted to cheer him on the whole time I read it. ^_^ I also enjoyed the relationship he had with his new mother- it's great to see good, active parents in anime! Also, the last line was classic. XD
