Kittie Darkhart 8/11/11 . chapter 1This is indeed a lovely story, and is one I can see happening after the manga/anime. I actually came across this when I read another Rurouni Kenshin story, and the author happened to mention it in her notes, which piqued my interest in checking your story out. And I am so glad that I did!
I truly love the depth of emotion you've placed into the characters, particularly with Aoshi and Misao. You've made them quite tangible and rather true to form. I can honestly imagine them portrayed this way in the canon; the exchange at the end is particularly good!
And I can also see what you're talking about with the Shakespearean influence in Aoshi's soliloquy. Shakespeare happens to inspire in those private moments of certain characters in which the audience is made privy to! (Grins.)
I also enjoyed the part with the golden fan for happiness, and Misao's remark that she was going to need more than one of those. That is so Misao, right there! .
The wedding taking place in winter also seems to suit Aoshi and Misao. Now that I am thinking of it, I really cannot imagine any other season for it, actually. Kenshin and Karou's being in the spring, yes, but Aoshi and Misao's is fitting for winter. Aoshi being, well, Aoshi. It just makes sense.
Your style of writing and sense of prose also flow beautifully throughout the story. It's just amazing, if not brilliantly done.
Anyway, this is, again, a wonderfully, well-written story. I also love the length of it, and am glad you decided to post this, because it is quite a gem of a read!
Thank you so much for sharing this!
Best wishes,

Ms Western Ink 4/3/05 . chapter 1That's just wrong 3, *3* reviews for this story? I LOVE this story! _
I love the idea, I especially liked the part where Misao cries talking to Okina bcause she thinks he doesn't love her.
The one thing in this story that really stuck with me, and this is really a very minor detail... Was this:
"Early in the morning, she and Aoshi had registered as a married couple. So, legally, she and Aoshi were already married."
*laughs* Every time I see that, I think "that has real possiblities there" and yet I have no idea what could be done with it. *shakes head* Maybe I just need more sleep... |
