zafaran 2008-10-02 ch 3,	abuseInteresting start. In your comment about bathing and cleanliness you might want to qualify that statement as you were a touch too general. You might want to specify the European barbarians. The civilized folks in the Moorish countries were far better educated and had much higher cleanliness standards. Even among the barbarians you had different standards of cleanliness. Elizabeth I is said to have taken a bath every six months whether she needed it or not, while in one of the Spanish courts, possibly Aragon or Castille, it was stated that one of the rulers had had two baths in her(?) life. One at birth, and one before her wedding, and having the one before the wedding was considered a bit excessive. In the depths of the Dark Ages, the people were sewn into their clothes, and only changed them when they wore out. Even at later dates once the Dark Ages past and the Renaissance had come through and changed things around Europe (and the Moors defeated and thrown out of Spain), things were a bit ripe. At one of the courts of the French Louis, there were no provisions for anywhere to go pee when the courtiers were in attendance on the king, so the courtiers would go pee on the floor in the corner of the ballroom. I must say that this is one of the - if not the - best one I have ever read. The interaction between the Fellowship and Harry is believable and the turn it takes on the story is very interesting. Aragorn was a smart man and readily agreed to Harry’s plan, though he knew not what it was about ere means before. therefore, it makes absolutely no sense where you put it. i know this, cause after the twenth time reading it in the LotR books, even though i could guess what it meant, i got irritated enough to look it up in the dictionary.
