Demus 2007-06-07 . chapter 1It is no small measure of your skill as a writer and the grasp you have on Tolkienesque language and rhythms of speech that, whereas in most self-insert stories I would be seeking to bludgeon myself to death on the edge of my computer desk, this story in fact produced entirely the opposite reaction.
To be honest, I am enjoying myself far too much, scrolling through your entire back catalogue! Your prose is poetic and fluid, you seem to have absorbed Professor Tolkien's magic into your fingertips! |
MerryKK 2007-02-08 . chapter 1This was excellent! I especially loved the one about how Faramir got his name. |
StarofElendil 2006-12-26 . chapter 1oh, Pipkin, that was FANTASTIC! really seriously! |
Ainu Laire 2006-12-07 . chapter 1This was incredibly delightful! I was laughing quite a bit throughout this, and smiling (or feeling sad) during the stories.
Funny thing is, I have these things going on all the time at my place as well, only it's usually Aragorn who comes. Have not yet seen more than one version of him, though, come so often... that must have been chaotic! ;)
I really, really want to write something like this now :P Honestly, it was quite enjoyable, and very, very cute. I liked it a lot :)
Oh, and congrats for second place in MEFA ^^ That's how I found this story. |
Larner 2006-11-29 . chapter 1Yes, a surfeit of Boromirs at the end. I, personally, am drawn to Book Boromir, but enjoy your red-gold haired one as well.
The language of Aragorn and Boromir got a bit ponderous from time to time, but it was fun. And LOVE the need for the cup. Poor, poor Aragorn. (Larner gathers her beloved into her arms and takes him for a nice, long soak in the imaginary hot tub...)
Mary Sue-Legomance? Argh! What torture! Hee! |
Rhyselle 2006-08-12 . chapter 1ROFLSHMSA! (rolling on the floor laughing so hard my sides ache!)
I adore this. Three great little stories within the story framed by very amusing character interaction within our world--who could ask for more? (Well, I suppose I could!)
And I just noticed that you posted on my birthday last year... so I'm going to think of this piece as a birthday present that was hidden away and I just found it!
Hee! I'm still grinning. |
Illwynd 2005-07-05 . chapter 1Hiya! Just re-read this... stories-within-stories-within-stories, I love it! The first story always gets the strangest combination of reactions out of me... I would blush if I were still capable, facepalming and laughing loud enough to wake the neighbor's cat... the second one sneaks into my brain and declares itself to be honorary canon, and the third one... I can so see that scene, and it makes me want to give them both a hug... and the little carving in the boot... ai! Perfect! And the last bit is hilarious... half a dozen Boromirs hollering at each other, ah that's great. Say, the next time they show up at your place, wanna send 'em my way after you're done with 'em? |
Pippinfan1988 2005-05-17 . chapter 1Hullo, Pipkin!! I took this story to work to read it Friday at lunch. I ended up finishing it at home, but what a brilliant tale! I could *easily* imagine you serving your gracious Southern Hospitality to our lovable bunch there. LOL...I had a good laugh at Merry and Beornomir having a go at the internet photos...of... And YES!! GUILTY AS CHARGED!! LOL...for your most excellent writing and WILD imagination! I still can't see myself sitting in *anyone's* jury, but I do suppose this was a nightmare, wasn't it? Full of laughs and sweetness--and all four--or was it five Boromirs? Can't keep count of all his multiplicity. ;-) Thank you so much for sharing your hobbit world.

Peregrinfalcon 2005-04-20 . chapter 1 Well done. And I don't say that lightly as I don't normaly care for things out of canon but yet it was. fascinating! Love your characterizations (hm is that spelled right) Anyway. Keep at it. Lol the End Lord I apologize. He he is that a qoute from Larry the Cable Hobbit? |
Unhobbity Hobbit 2005-04-08 . chapter 1Ooh! It's a veritable mine of tid-bits of book knowledge! It must be great to have such visits, though a little overwhelming if all appear at once.
Spellchecker, as useful as it is, is terrible with LotR names. It keeps insisting Bilbo is a Bible and that Merry is not deserving of a capital letter!
As wonderful as your story is, I noticed something that could be changed (though only one thing is quite impressive for a fic of that length). “Of what do you accuse my friend? Begging your pardon, (this in a tone of voice which begged nothing of the kind) I demand an explanation, and it had better be a good one!” really needs the bracketed part to be outside speach marks, otherwise Pippin is saying it an that sounds odd.
Other than that - brilliant!
Oh, and I think the word Boromir was looking for was 'Unhobbity'. |
Balrog Pimp 2005-04-06 . chapter 1 AWESOME! I love all of those stories! I was so excited to see that you had written another story and such a funny one too! I really like the first one with all that innuendo! Hillarious! The insanity at the end was really cool too, Movie Boromir, Book Boromir etc... I sometimes get my Lotr muse visiting me but randomly its always Eomer... wierd. Bye bye! |
PippinDuck 2005-04-06 . chapter 1Pipkin, I absolutely adored this story! You had me in stitches at the end. Dr. Phil of the Shire...broom and spellcheckers. And the three little stories had such a great blend of emotion.
Well done! Well done indeed!! |
