This is such a sad description of Brin's loss of herself. You portrayed her feeble struggle to regain her self very well. You use of imagery was wonderful as Brin disappears into the shadows, gone from the world, a shadow of her former self. Beautiful work once again.

Mmmm. Nice. And good for you for exploring this topic--not the process of the reindoctrination, but the effects of it, the internal conflict. And it has a nice stream-of-consciousness feel to it, while being coherent and avoiding cheese. I'd be curious to see what would happen if the Manticore stuff came out stronger--not just as a block, but as a counter-reaction. Something like what they did in Female Trouble with Jace, with her reaction to Max (the "enemy" "snake" "rat" stuff). But then again, it's not my story! :) Anyway, a very enjoyable read, nice poetic flow, half-dreaming, half-awake.
