Ilove the building tension. Itachi seems very protective and a bit possessive of Naru-chan.

There is such a beautiful melancholic undertone to this scene: not overt, it plays out gently and with subtlety and it's brilliant.

Their relationship is so perfect. They're both very in character (considering that Naruto has grown up and stopped being a ponce all the time)

Oh ho, just what is Naruto up to? I'm very curious as to what the promise is and who he made it to if it involves releasing the fox. Interesting.

This is an interesting kind of AU fic, seeing as Naruto seems really powerful, and still has the whisker marks, and the fact that the Yondaime is still alive. I don't know how that would work. But meh. It's your story, and I can't wait to see what comes out of it.
