Oh this is so perfectly done! The characterization of Adama and how he struggles with his emotions and his call to duty and the price he pays for is just beautiful!

I think this is "realistic". Very good and very true.

Timeline inaccuracies aside, this was very well done! I always enjoy Adama fics (I puffy heart Adama) so I'm extremely happy to read this, although amused that you've explained away acne scars. >:)

I'm usually not a fan of fics written in the first person they usually feel forced but this little fic was so well put together you've made a convert of me. Adama's characterisation was excellent and the fic was very touching. Great job.

The good stuff: this is well-handled; I really feel for him, coming home to a situation like this, and knowing it'll just repeat the next time he's gone -- and that there's inevitably going to be that next time. You do a wonderfully good job with the emotions here, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the second half!
(The bad stuff: some canon nits to pick, but it's mostly stuff that comes up in the podcast commentaries for Episode 9 -- and the Cylon War was forty years ago. OTOH, I still like this; I just thought I'd point that out as an FYI.)

Nice--sad. Helps explain Adama's general aura of melancholy. No villains here--just people. Good work.
