This was nice. The opening scene was particularly well set. A couple of crits: There were some paragraphing problems here and there and I don't think you really meant that Vogler 'annexed' the idea. I can't vote for either ending, because they both kinda did the same thing for me. All in all, I enjoyed this. You've got a good sense of dialogue and its rhythm, and, as I said in the beginning, a wonderful ability to place the reader into the scene. Nice work. I look forward to seeing more of your writing!
