So far I very much enjoy this story. It captures the feel of Evangelion very well. Thank you very much for sharing this story with us.

I'm unsure if you're aware of this (or if you're even on the 'Net anymore to get this message), but darkscribes.org is down, and with it goes the final part in this Shinji/Hikari fanfic trilogy, 'Carpe Diem'.

There are readers on the internet who would love to be able to read or re-read the third installment of this series, so it would wonderful if you could possibly upload it here on fanfiction.net.

Please, if nothing else, respond to this message. If you never do, I may need to draw the conclusion that you've died in the interim. This of course would be sad, but it would be nice to know for certainly, particularly since you never did upload the last part of this story up here.

Send me word if you're alive, and if you're at all able to upload this wonderful fic - if you no longer have it, then at least say so so that we may know for certain.

Very nice fic you have here! It's a pairing that doesn't happen often but seems quite possible. After all, if it really is Toji's compassionate side that Hikari likes then she really missed out in the series by not looking deeper into Shinji's character. Shinji is still getting the better end of this diversion however, unless you pull the stunt with the 13th that I've dreading since Ritsuko's appearance at the hearing.

The pacing seems a bit odd with a lot of nearly series-identical bits early on, but it seems in later chapters you wisely began to skip scenes that occurred unaltered. I expect that as things go there will be less scenes like this. Still, it seems to me that a few of the differences, while slight, don't quite make sense as they involve changing things in the timeline which Shinji's new relationship has no bearing on.

It's too bad this was posted so long ago...I have a feeling that a later posting date (IE: FFN is more popular) would've done well for this in terms of attention.

I enjoy Hikari/Shinji, I really do...

But I like Hikari most when she shows her wild/naughty/dirty/adventurous side.

Usually her character seems to be too much of a giggling boring prude. The reason Asuka is interesting as a romantic partner to Shinji is because how crazy and wild she is. In this case it's just two boring people.

It especially irks me when Hikari acts like such a prude or little girl, like when she asked shockingly about Shinji drinking beer or suggested they leave the room before Ritsuko cursed up a storm. I mean, I guess it's nice behaivor for a normal girl her age, but I guess I prefer abnormal Shinji with abnormal girls.

But hey, it's a good fic, and I enjoyed the pairing overall.

Wow, this is really an old fic. I found out about it while reading someone elses review of a Hikari fic. Even though I've only read this first chapter, I can say honestly that this is one of the better fics in the large collection of Eva fics on this site. Thank you Hotwire, whoever you are. Thank you.

I want to comment on chapter 4.. and the possible reason why nerv would intervene for Hikari..

She was one the possible Pilots for EVA, and therefore could not be expelled.

Cause I've read in another fic about how tokyo 3 contained all the kids from over japan who were eligable to pilot.

Just a possible theory.

ya know.. I find myself leaning shinji / Asuka.. and yet, when I go back to fics like this with shinji/hikari, I find that I'm really tolerant of shinji/hikari pairings... Truly an excellent fic to keep people like me coming back to reread...
