Such a sad first chapter ;.; But very, very, very good!

When are you going to update? I wanna know what happens. How old is Daisuke in this story anyway? Is he going to meet Satoshi...if he's appearing in this fic? I feel so sorry for Emiko. TT.TT So sad. I nearly cried when I read this.

Kosuke ... poor, poor Kosuke. =[
You can easily connect with his feelings through this chapter quite well and ... aw, like Daisuke, he's quite the sweetie. ^_^ What a pity that he's in an awkward moment with his wife though and wouldn't really know what to say to make her feel better. =[ I think many people have been in his shoes before.
As I was reading through the history behind the Niwas and the Hikaris, the information seemed so realistic - so I wondered, did you make some parts up or did you really get it from the manga or anime?
Anyway, I'm curious to see more on the development of how Emiko will manage to cope and wonder if you can try fill in the blanks of how come she hates Satoshi now, even though he is Rio's son (for honestly, that issue has been bugging my mind out for a while ^_^;).
On the next chapter if it deals with present again, I hope that when the Niwas attend the funeral (well, I'm not sure if they exactly will - but, perhaps so?) - I just hope nothing horrible happens like a major family clan arguement erupting right then and there. O.o;

Oh, I positively loved how you managed to write Rio's personality in this chapter! As I was reading it, I could really feel as if were with those two girls inside that art museum.
It's pleasant to see how Emiko and Rio managed to meet each other in the past and that small interaction between them seemed completely adorable to me. Their personalities seem to compliment each other in ways.
He-he, it's amusing to see how Emiko seemed to have "forgotten" what her father said about how the Hikaris looked (and yes, her father does seem parinoid O.o;) ... but, it's such a pity that Emiko and Rio are from opposing families.
It sort of reminds of Romeo and Juliet in a way (the situation, not your story ^_^;). I wonder though ... which of the two girls would be Romeo and Juliet? Hm.

... And that's why we love Kosuke. Because he's just that great. Very... noble, but astoundly faulted in that he cares too much. It's very sad that he can't bring himself to hate Rio. Curious, also, his habit of emersing himself in books, but not unlikely.

Emiko... is grieving, so we don't get to judge her. oh phoo.

Daiki, however.. hm. I'm still not sure where I stand here. Continuing to sit on the fence (if the war was going on between both sides of the fence, wouldn't a fence-sitter get hit with a grenade or something?). But. Hm, I like him, but since I like everyone, I don't count. He does look out for Emiko, and that's cute. And having him take care of Daisuke... aww, Daisuke! I can't quite remember how old he is... Hm. Ew, I used 'hm' three times in that paragraph. I feel repetative.

The way the explanation of the history went was interesting, as it tends to be. Very curious, very curious indeed. And that does explain away the Rio-not-being-sensed bit.

There were a few moments that indulged in tautology, as in ["I see no end in sight."]

[I wished that I had stayed in Daiki’s study and had read their instead, rather then running away to the library.] has the use of the wrong 'their'

Until next chapter!

*hugs Kosuke* You poor thing!! T.T *lets him go* Heey, I just had a really, really weird feeling... You know, Kosuke comes back in I-don't-remember-which-manga ; so that means he left, and a long while ago 'cause Daisuke doesn't 'know' him. I just thought that he left because he couldn't bear seeing Emiko mourn Rio O.O And that makes sense!! Oh my god *starts running around the room shaking her arms everywhere* THIS FIC IS TELLING WHAT REALLY HAPPENED BETWEEN EMIKO AND RIO!!
*sits back in front of the computer* Aww, DNAngel is SO gay.
Really good job with 'explaining' the Niwa-and-Hikari 300-years-old feud.
And man, I love Kosuke.

Ah, it's definitely rare to find a fanfiction concerning yuri in the D.N.Angel fandom. It makes me grin at the thought of how I managed to came upon this time.
Your story is quite descriptive and makes the story much nicer to read that way. It's certainly more well-written than some of stories concerning shonen-ai/yaoi that I've seen around the D.N.Angel section!
Honestly, I've never would've came up with Emiko liking Satoshi's mother (I don't really know her name, so ... ), but it catches my interest. I'll surely be reading the rest of the story. *Grins*

Yeaah, you're not letting this down after all!! ^_^ I'm so happy, it's such an interesting idea to develop — plus, you write really well. Young Emiko is funny, she really acts like Daisuke (not only the rambling part, the scratching-the-back-of-her neck too, and the making-friends-with-people-she-just-runned-in and the getting-lost-in-a-painting)
And I bet the woman on the portrait is Rio's mother having just found out she was pregnant of Rio.

Well I'll be damned, you updated a fic. Much cheering from the peanut gallery, I'll say. The peanut gallery is also very happy to have gotten their hands on an Emiko plushy. They'll just refrain from putting it anywhere near the Keiji plushie, for fear of their combined lunacy.

The Time and Narrator bit makes it seem a bit like a log on some great journey, and all of a sudden I've retreated to the Lost World days. Although I daresay there are a few less raptors around here. (I could be wrong, what with how you've got Daiki acting. I'm curious to see where you go with that)

That our Emiko was given bodyguards is interesting. The Hikari are that much of a threat, or Daiki-chan is just that paranoid. I have to agree with Daiki, however. Emiko /would/ go off and steal from a museum if she felt it was nessecary.

I liked the description of the painting, as a sidenote. Bumping into a Hikari is classic Emiko, although if she can sense the painting (another thing I liked, and thought was interesting) then from a point of view she should have sensed Rio as well, both being Hikari art. Normally I don't like excessive detail of characters, but this was done well, and because I'm odd like that I felt it was done in the same way the painting described, which added a nice touch. Because I still like to think of the Hikari themselves as Hikari art. It's nice to know that the Niwa are blind every time. Perhaps that's why Emiko spent so much time shielding her son from the truth.

The way that they were talking about paintings, it's very... interesting, because it's a different type of dialogue than I come across most of the time. And the delicious irony of a Niwa and a Hikari talking over them! Well, no better thing to talk about for them. But again, I really liked how the dialogue was, not being something that can be, or is, often used.

Now in regards to personality...

Rio! Wow, I think she came across loud and clear... or not loud, I suppose. Even her voice in my head was very quiet, very calm and cold. Queen of Swords is definitely she, I'll say.

And Emiko... It's interesting that she wouldn't have many friends, and that's she loves art. A part of her Dark penchant, I suppose. And that she doesn't listen to her father! Oh, how lovely. Or rather, she listens, just doesn't /remember/... Heh.

Mild formatting error here ["When you were fourteen, you were moonlighting as a thief after school. All I'm asking is being allowed going out by myself during the day.]and here: [But, then again, I had beentouring these museums since I was crawling.]and here: [One of my relatives mentioned this artwork was going on display here, and mentioned that severalsimilar artworks are here, so I came by to see.]

I can only assume Fanfiction . net has been at it again. Oh well.

Again, I want to see where you go with this.

Yay, yuri! ^_^ It's funny, in the French translations (which I read), they speak about Hikari Rio like it was a man, yet in English it's always a woman and Satoshi's mom.
O.o
Looks like an interesting story ^^ *adds you to author alert list*

Oo, Rio/Emiko. There isn't a lot of that out there... congrats for breaking new frontiers!

I agree full well that Emiko can be serious, most certainly... Most humans have hidden depths to their minds, and Emiko couldn't possibly be that uber happy, of course. Example: GN2, Wherein she sees Satoshi, Daisuke, and the wall. So that's a nice take on it.

Another characterization of yours I liked... poor, poor Kosuke! That was very well done, and it hurts to see him sad like that, by virtue of the fact he's so sweet and everything! But I adored the way you did that... very meloncholy, very true.

And Grandpa Daiki... I'll fence sit here, because I'm not sure what to say about him...

However, I am interested! I'd really like to see where this goes!
