Macabre-Melody 2008-08-18 . chapter 14wow, i have to say that this is the best constantine fic ive read (and ive read quite a few!)
you've got the detective stuff down pretty well, it feels like im watching csi or some detective thing when im reading this, its really well thought out. im glad that you havent saturated the story with romance in the first few chapters but slowly building it up.
I think i might tear my hair out if you don't update soon!! (but dont rush on my account..i love my hair too much) |
DragonRider43 2008-06-17 . chapter 14can't believe you can just leave the story at that. haven't uploaded anything in a while but please- I am BEGGING you to put up chapters. There are too few Constantine/Angela stories of this rating and it'll be soo good to read this fic. It's brilliantly written and the plotline is really good. Please, please, please, please continue! |
Kimna 2008-02-03 . chapter 14Ok, here goes. I've never been that good at the whole reviewing thing- at least, not the consistent-ness that good stories deserve- but I'm trying right now. I'm writing you a review because I love your story and hope that perhaps I could make a difference.
What's spurring me right now is only the fact that you're an active writer as of the moment. (I recently conversed with another talented author who unfortunately took leave from the fanfic world and left a story, a Constantine story actually, unfinished. Like many many others. I totally understood, but it's still sad. So I'm glad you still write!) And I checked the reviews this story has gotten and there was a recent one in 2008. (I'm not alone on this!) Oh, right, and because of the story of course.
I'm not someone who likes to jump between fandoms much. Rather, I'm the kind who likes something, and sticks with it until I can't any more. What one would call: having obsessions. So all in all, I really hope that you're not like me. If you are... then darn. Cause I know, I really do, how difficult it is to like something again. Actually- DOING that may not be so hard, but letting yourself do it, maybe. You don't want to drop what you're currently liking to immerse yourself in a different world no matter how much you enjoyed it. ...Or is all of this just me? o_O
Well, with that said- I don't know how I could convinced anyone to like Constantine again. You could easily say to me, "You're about 3 years too late!" and it'd be the truth. SIGH- I don't know why I suddenly liked Constantine so much after watching it for the 3rd time on my brother's new HD dvd of it, but yea... apparently I do. And all I find nowadays to quench my hunger are unfinished stories. Like this one.
So all I can do right now is review your story and hope for the best. Maybe someday. *shrugs* Who knows?
Anyways-! Sorry 'bout that. I babble a lot. I... uhm... where to start! o-o ...Your Constantine... is Constantine. Same goes for Angela. Same goes for all the characters, really. I read your rant about keeping characters true to themselves- in canon- and I say: God bless you. xD How they think, how they talk- it's in a way... unnoticeable. (I'll get back to that!) Despite the fact that this is a fanfic story and you're... a fanfic writer- I just... have to THINK to wrap my head around the fact that someone wrote these characters like this. Not the person who created Constantine, or the film's script writers- no, but a damn talented writer who captured the characters in such a way that it's... flawless. No other word to describe it.
I said "unnoticeable" because they're no glaring errors to the way they act that jars readers back and make them think, "Right, that's just THIS author's take on it". Ah, not that you don't give the characters your own... whatever-the-word-I'm-trying-to-think-of is. Arhg, how do I say this... The fact that you're writing these characters in your own story is proof enough that you can take already concieved characters and make them your own enough to carry on a story-! and have them believably REAL enough that... makes me have no idea what I'm talking about. Ha, no- but I really do mean that- gawd, you have such great characterization on these people that I'm in awe.
I do want to mention, since I'm talking about writing the characters, that I really like your take on the half-breed Chas. Post-death Chas to be more blunt. Because Chas as a half-breed... no one really knows what that's like. From the novelization, all we can pull from it is that Chas acts the same. But since you have more of him than about 3 lines- or any other author who wants to write half-breed Chas- you have to make up... more. Everyone'll have a different take. And I like yours. It makes sense- how he's the Chas everyone likes, but with divine knowledge. There's the air of confidence and mystic. As much as I like the bumbling-clumsy Chas sometimes, being an angel probably ages someone in wisdom more that they'll let on.
I don't even know what I want to say about the plot you have going here. Well, ok, I could mention that I DID read through all 13 chapters straight through, and... I suppose LIKE it enough to review. That should suffice in an explanation of why I love where things are going? There's a real mystery that goes a long with John and Angela's progressing relationship storyline. How much you indulge your readers! You're too kind.
Oh, and I like the layout to your fanfic website, which I thought I'd mention. I went there first cause you mentioned somewhere that you don't censored things. I think that only applies to the one-shot "For I Have Sinned"? (Which was... gosh, an entity in itself. I love your angst and imagery!) Anyways, I started reading this story there first, but it stopped at chapter 11. I got to read 2 more on but alas... it all stops at one point or another. But I hold more hope in you than others.
The Astral-Light forums is basically inactive, and most Constantine film orientated LJ communities are dead. And I know you've moved on to other fandoms, but just maybe. If you happen to watch the film again for some inexplicable reason and decide to revisit some old ghosts and mayhaps... post a new chapter-! Only if you want to, though. I'm just here- despite what I said in the beginning- to tell you that you've written a marvelous story and is truly an amazing writer. I really enjoyed reading what you have of this fic.
I'll be around in the Constantine-verse for some time, cause I just found a plethora of fics that aren't on this site and it'll take... maybe a few more days. Ahaha. Or, there's always rewatching the film with subtitles... hmm... Well, whatever the case- I'd always be thrilled to hear from you if you decide to update.
Great job, and keep up the great work. :3 |
SakuraAkira365 2008-01-23 . chapter 14Wow, I just read this entire story in one sitting! This was phenomenal, the characterizations are very realistic.
However, I did notice the date, will you be continuing this fiction in the future or will be it one of the uncompleted!
Please please say you'll update! Or at least I hope so! |
Calei 2007-08-03 . chapter 12 "This night, sleep was an inept bedfellow who just couldn’t get inspiration to come."
This is the best line I've read in a very long time.

tiff 2006-07-28 . chapter 14 i came across your story and well.. i find it to be an excellent piece of literature work!! =) you should really consider becoming a fiction writer or some sort of novelist. i would definitely buy your book(s). =) you've endowed your story with great suspense, endearing romance, and sardonic humor. i love it all. =) you really fill the characters with the right amount of persona, it's all beautiful. one minor trouble you have is grammatical errors... BUT that's just a small problem, nothing big! it doesn't majorly affect your story so it's all good. =) i hope you update soon, too! i'll be waiting for the next chapters. keep up the fantastic work!! byes~ |
 Thai 2006-07-12 . chapter 14god!!

you have some damn good talent here!! the way you write, i feel like i'm still watching that movie
and the character's personalities and traits are so well done :3
it's a real pleasure to read your fic!! really really really |
 a red burn 2006-07-02 . chapter 1dude! you could like.. update =/ |
bookwormbsktcase 2006-06-19 . chapter 1 your fic is really good and i thought that "She felt it in the very air around her, in the very fabric of reality, like oppressive smog and heat that gave thickness to the atmosphere, thickness tainted with sulfur and human suffering, like a soiled pillow reeking of filth and death being placed ever-so-slowly over your mouth and nose, smothering you" was a great sentence as far as structure and desciption but that you could change it around a little and replace the you's with hers help the flow so it reads "ever-so-slowly over her mouth and nose, smothering her" I understand what you were trying to get at and thats a beautifully put together sentence but using yous tends to change the mood and change the flow so that the paragraph that its in seems cheapened somehow. I really enjoy your writing and i hope to read more from you soon |
The WolvGambit 2006-05-25 . chapter 14Please update this soon, I'm really enjoying it and am looking forward to reading more~ I love Constantine~ |
