it's nice to find a kid!fic that isn't disgustingly, unrealistically fluffy, and one that has actual plot, and is plausible, and fun to read. I love this. :) |

Allie 2008-01-29 . chapter 1 I came across this story while scrounging for fiction contacting the 9th Doctor and was completely mesmerized—not only by the writing style but also the character development and portrayal! It was a brilliant read and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing! |
sammie28 2007-12-19 . chapter 12 So it's most likely gauche to add stuff like this, but there were two things I forgot:
First, I thought it was cute and hilarious the descriptions of the child; when Rose is upset with her mother, at one point it says that "Hope grumbled" or something; then in an earlier chapter, that "Baby kicked grumpily." Loved that.
Secondly (and hopefully last), I liked the scene where the Doctor and Rose are having it out, and little Stacey enters, and in her innocent, unrelated to the topic (of Rose crying) way announces that she's going to be the baby's aunt. It had to have been a blow to the Doctor, given that he spent all those years searching for her and still doesn't know the child is his. |
sammie28 2007-12-19 . chapter 12 I'm a new fan to "Doctor Who", and I found your story on a list of highly recommended Who FF.
Your FF was wonderful. It pulled off babies and childbirth without being corny, had canon Cathica woven in beautifully - she WOULD be the public's star, after Platform One. I loved the choice of water shortage (water rationing) as a major problem caused by the chaos - it was a very real potential shortage and one with potentially disastrous consequences.
Most of all, I loved your Nine. He was both sarcastically tough and almost unintentionally cruel while being so very vulnerable and faithful. His cutting comments followed by the deep seated hurt from Rose's leaving him were so in character (at least for me). I could see him wearily searching everywhere for Rose to the point of exhaustion - and even risking a trip to Jackie's to tell her - even ending up sans TARDIS and screwdriver, but not yet willing to give up.
Thank you for the beautiful, beautiful story! |

EbonyBeach 2005-07-22 . chapter 12I'm sorry I reviewed 2 chapters then seemed to disappear, but I had to leave for Edinburgh on monday and I'd read up to chapter 7, so I printed off all the rest (24 pages, size 8 font!) and read it in the car... and again... and again... and about 50 times more, and OH MY GOD!
By the end of it I was utterly speechless, I still am now when I think about it!
It was just mind blowing. The way they argued and then how he watched her all night. On Christmas day when she sat with him and the duvet all day on the sofa. The garden scene, and it snowed, and I just knew what was coming but when it did I literally squealed at the most sugary-sweet kiss(es) ever written. How she screamed at him during childbirth that he was the father, and the last line of that when he was holding Hope, and she'd never felt so right. And then everything after that, him being sweet to her mum, the way he was so exhausted looking for her that he collapsed from it all.
I think the bit that got to me the most (and I'm not entirely sure why!) was when they were in the kitchen and he kissed her, and then he began crying against her stoamch... it instantly brought me to tears, everything was so real and dramatic and heart-breaking.
You've probably gathered it by now, but I just want to say thank you for writing the best story I've ever read (and I've read a lot).
You're an inspiration to me and so many other reader's out there, and I so want to be able to write like you! |
