I'm on this HUGE Okita thing right now. Like, I can't stop wanting to read about him and like in the Last Exile story I come back to this and hope by some chance you might watch the show again and regain the inspiration for this!

I really like this story, and I do hope you get back to updating it.

What a great story so far. I'm blown away by the depth of your writing, the descriptions, the language, the emotions...everything is so effecting. Souji's hopefulness that the Shinsengumi will be victorious is really sad. But this isn't depressing! It just shows how passionate he is, that he still holds onto life. Can't wait till you update!

Wow. What a simply stunning chapter. Loved how the narration was in little Soujiro's voice, and then slowly, the story came back to Okita, sitting there in the hospital, writing. That part, where Soujiro found his mother dead, that was so sad, our eyes got teary.
It's *so* sad how Okita still thinks they'll come to tell him of victory...you simply must update soon, this is so good!

Wow. What a wonderful beginning! So beautifully written, so poignantly narrated, and though he is dying, it's not depressing at all. Particularly like how Okita chooses not to let himself go to the illness, the part where he was wiggling his 'bony toes' was just too cute! ^_^ It was sad too, how he was thinking of Kondo and Hijikata coming to tell him that the Shinsengumi have won. Kondo is dead by this point, isn't he? Great, passionate, defiant ending. That's Okita's swordsman spirit alright. Can't wait to read more!

*wave* I've been trawling the net for good Peacemaker fic, which is sadly hard to find, but I have to say that I liked what you started here. I'm so sad for Okita-san, though. *sniffle* You left him motherless. Okita-san needs a hug. He also needs Hijikata-san, but that's much later. Anyway, I hope you decide to continue this. It's sad and reflective and I really think it demonstrates all of Okita's insecurities and dichotomies and his love of laughter.
