I realize that I'm commenting literally _years_ after you wrote this, but I wanted to say I really enjoyed it. I found the idea of Miroku following the Pure Land sect particularly interesting;it wasn't something I had thought of at all, but it is surprisingly fitting.

Am reviewing this very, very late after its publish date, but this drabble definitely leaves an impact. You did a lovely job of characterizing Miroku as a monk, which in favor of his perverse side, a lot of fans forget he is. It also seems well researched in respect to the religious aspect.

Kudos to you on the others' characterizations, too. Again, the events described here are very "like" what I'd expect to come from feudal Japan. I'm particularly fond of the closeup on Kagome.

A good, darker way of portraying the aftermath of a terrible event and also showing the more spiritual side of Miroku which we don't usually see much of. Nice work.

That was very powerful and well-written. Very sobering.

This was so packed full of emotion that it seemed a lot longer than it actually was. I really liked it.

The comparisons of Kagome, Inuyasha, and Sango in their attempts to comprehend the scene are all apt and in character.

I also liked how you weaved the Buddhist beliefs into the story. I don't know much about Buddhist beliefs, but I don't think that Miroku doesn't follow them. I think he follows them as well as he can to still survive. And this was perfect to show how a person can use a belief system to survive through witnessing a horror. This was great.

Interesting. Miroku... usually seems to ignore large sections of Buddhist teaching.

I mean, he FIGHTS, hangs around with sneaky demons, and is pretty much filled with all manner of uncontrolled desires (especially the physical kind, which regularly cause him suffering in the form of a slap!) XD

This perspective of him is a bit different from usual, but good to read.

It hasn't really been said that Miroku belongs to the Amidism school of thought, since he's been described as "the delinquent monk" so he's probly makes up his own philosophy. In any case, a good one-shot on Miroku's thoughts when he and the rest of the group come to a scene too late.
