I always liked it when background characters are brought into the spotlight, so your story is one I'll look forward to future reading. There were some instances where you misplaced "your" and "you're". Aside from that and a few minor spelling errors, I have few complaints regarding formatting and writing. I suggest not using underlines for emphasizing text - especially since I find that a lot of the words emphasized in such a manner don't actually benefit from emphasis at all. Besides, if you really need/want to emphasis something, it's often more meaningful and conveying to emphasize using words rather than formatting. Also, in these days of internet ubiquity, the eye is probably subconsciously drawn to underlined text; making them stand out more than italics (though I'm really getting nitpicky at this point - it's really a minor consideration). But for the most part, it just seems like you're emphasizing text for no reason. When I read a sentence with an emphasized (underlined) word, I sometimes re-read it pretending the emphasis wasn't there. More often then not the emphasis does nothing to convey anything. Basically, the emphasis is meaningless and unnecessary. |
