abuseI think you could have made more of the first chapter/put more into it because it felt a bit "bony", if you know what I mean. Apart from that, this is hilarious! I love the different threads and the 'explanations' for the film variations from the book - nicely done! It's just the right level of humour and done in just the right way. *beams*

BTW, what's this James (Whittaker) was telling me about you being 'expelled' from the school where you were on teaching practice? I'm intrigued.

abuseHey, we're all obsessed here, right? I personally never imagined Idril (another first-cousin-once-removed of Gal) surviving her voyage to the Undying Lands, as you obviously do. After all, she was carrying a mortal with her, and the statement that Tuor was "joined with the Noldor, whom he loved" might only mean that his soul was called to the Halls of Mandos rather than leaving the Circles of the World. Earendil set out looking for Mummy, but it states nowhere that he found her. After all, she came under the Curse of the Noldor too.

abusePoor Legolas! I would have thought being accompanied by a dwarf is QUITE enough punishment, but he mysteriously doesn't agree, Saruman. Hilarious!

abuseOn page 345 of "The Fellowship of the Ring" Tolkien says "Very tall they were, and the Lady no less than the Lord; and they were grave and beautiful." Just my obsession. Very funny!

ch 7,
abuse[Immense amusement] One could write a horribly complicated crossover/AU trying to justify every change between books and movies... I may have to add the idea to my list of plotbunnies, in fact. Hope you don't mind me stealing the concept.

Very good story, all told. From fairly humble beginnings, too. I did like the Dunedain being diverted to Lorien...

abuseVery clever idea! I had somehow missed this story till now -- and you've finished -- but I'll make a suggestion anyway.

"We will help, Grandfather," said Elladan, smiling at Celeborn, relieved that they had not, in fact, been lost at all. When Galadriel was involved strange things such as mistaking north for south tended to happen.

Or perhaps mistaking east and west? Galadriel's involvement would also explain Legolas's odd confusion about the location of Isengard relative to the East March.

abuseOMG, that chapter was hilarious!

"Saruman departed into the east, where he possessed an occasional susceptible mortal, and made them believe that they should attempt to conquer the world. It kept him busy for a few millennia."

abusehehe, funny story so far.

"so if there are any book-to-movie changes I've missed that you'd like to see 'explained' in this fic's format, let me know."

I'd like to know why Narsil wasn't reforged _before_ Aragorn left with the Fellowship, though it's a bit too late to explain that now, oh well.

ch 7,
abuseVery nice ending. *claps*
Mythological beginning with a twist to the movie.

I liked this whole series, especially as you linked the scenes together and created a subplot. I pity Celeborn now.

ch 1,
abuseAha! Absolutely correct! The movie portrays (However accidently) Arwen as a thief, since she had Asfolath, her brother's horse. So, I'm sure, if the movie had it's way, this really would have been in there.

This is hilarious! If you do more, I suggest the following. Brace yourself, Legolas fans:
The Legolas in the books (almost certainly) was not blonde. He (almost certainly) had black hair. Percent chance error: Approximately .5%
