Cozette Wilder 11/1/07 . chapter 14Wow, wow, wow, wow! I have read and re-read this story so many times, I believe this is my 5th time, and it never gets old. You are one talented writer, you put so much emotion and vivid details and beautiful description in one small passage, it really impresses me. The anticipation of when we're finally going to see Duo is perfect, and you throw in Heero's thoughts about him, which gives us a hint that Heero's feelings for the braided man aren't entirely platonic. And even though Duo was harsh (never read a harsh Duo that actually worked until I read this), Heero completely needed it and you could still tell Duo was still so in love with him, so caring for him. It was a painful love for him, seeing as he thought it was unrequited. But Heero needed to learn some things, of course, before he could love Duo. I hope to be as descriptive a writer as you, you just capture that scene so well, the busy city, the cold plain apartment, the smoky, gauzy room of Adele, the plane ride, etc. But what really gets me is the angst, the intense emotion the both are feeling and the overall feel/mood/atmosphere of the settings. And thank the Lord the ending is happy, I love it. Well, not quite happy sappy, because they both still have that pain in their past, that they can never forget. I know you said that Gundam Wing doesn't interest you anymore, and that's ok. The anime is okay, but it's the characters I love. I won't love Duo/Heero forever, but they have nice chemistry and seem suited for each other if you can write the characters well, in character and not overly exaggerated (like a completely silent Heero, an over the top obnoxious Duo). Anyways, if you get anything at all from this review, just know that you have the skills to be a great writer, and I'm not joking. I rarely read a piece of fanfiction several times, and enjoy it just as much each time. This is my fave Duo/Heero fic out there- it made me cry, it touched me, it made me grin wildly many times (i love when Duo kisses Heero on the cheek...so sweet!). My fave quote:
"Never in his life did he allow a matter to bother him so deeply, so intimately, to the very core of his soul". I love it because I can relate...so yeah...anyways good luck with future endevours! :D |
Memeal 1/26/06 . chapter 14Ah Naomi... as usual, absolute beauty. This chapter captures what Heero had striven for from the beginning, trying so hard to simply know how to connect to another human being. And it adds to the last chapter, having this finalization of Heero's struggles, to watch Adele and her own coming to terms with what has passed her by.
It's bittersweet. I've really grown to adore Adele and her hard life and her diamond walls encasing her - she's a beautiful OC. I envy your ability to make her so alive. I've said it already, but it bears repeating; Adele carries this fiction in her two long nailed hands.
Another gorgeous, gorgeous piece of work. I do so love reading all you've done and do. It's poetry. |
