good story... i have read so many story where homine date darco and push all of her freinds away and tell them he is a good guy... so i love that you have darco be a jerk, and for ron to just leave and be come a better man... good story.

Would like to say that overall I agree with your rants about Ron always being the scapegoat.I've really enjoyed reading this story, long though it was. The quality of the writing was superb. You have succeeded in portraying Ron in a realistic and sympathetic light. Now I think he's very admirable. Hermione, on the other hand...

Honestly, I feel so annoyed that Hermione got her happy ending without suffering too much. Not next to Ron, anyway. Grh!
For almost all of the story she is portrayed to be really annoying and unlikeable (which I guess is what you intended) and frankly now I can't understand what he sees in her. She just kept losing her temper all the time, or weeping and feeling sorry for herself. In this story Hermione and her mother are so similar, I also disliked Mrs Granger a lot.
They both ARE really arrogant and have horrible taste in guys except for the one exception. And don't even get me started on when she fell for Draco... In short, I felt your version of Hermione just wasn't worthy of Ron. *end of my little mini-rant*

Anyway, just wanted to express my thoughts on the story. It's a testament to your writing that I enjoyed it as much as I have, given how unbearable I found Hermione's character :D

Hi, I just wanted to tell you, I spent the day re-reading this story and I liked it as much this time as I did the last time. It still makes me giggle and smile. My fiance couldn't get me to move all afternoon. He remembers me reading it the first time.

Thanks again for making me smile!

I also can't believe I'm reviewing such a long completed ff, but here goes: I love Ron's letters. I really like (ok, love) how you developed Ron's character. I didn't like almost anyone else's character and interactions. I didn't like the way everyone treated Hermione like a pariah for dating Malfoy (including Dumbledore and McGonagal). Ok, if everyone else acts like an idiot you can at least pawn it off as "well, they are teenagers in high school." Dumbledore and McG don't have that excuse. I mean really, are teenage girls supposed be mis-treated (and even on one occasion physically assaulted) by everyone in the world (including responsible adults) b/c they stupidly fell for the wrong guy. Dumbledore making her manually clean out his office was both awful and sexist. Let's humiliate the teenage girl, b/c most of them don't have fragile self-esteem to begin with. Harry and Ginny physically assaulting H. and D. is one thing, but it being sanctioned by the staff (including the headmaster) just made me sick.

I didn't like that Dumbledore was threatening malfoy. He’s responsible for Malfoy too. Or is Dumbledore only supposed to support and nuture the cool kids or the easy kids? I didn't like how Harry and Ginny were complete jerks and yet this was written as though, of course, Harry and Ginny were doing the right thing and Hermione was just a scum ball (and a pathetic one at that...couldn't you have at least made her evil). The story treats Harry like a righteous good guy when he was acted like a total jerk. (Let’s kick the unpopular kid out of the common room). I don’t care if he stopped everyone from hexing Hermione. It read like a plot ploy to make it appear that Harry was morally in the right when he acted like a pompous jerk through much of the story.

This story seemed sexist. I felt like many of the women characters (Hermione, McGonagall, Molly Weasley) were treated with a total lack of respect, both by characters in the story and the author. Hermione is portrayed as a pathetic loser time and time again (...screw being the brightest witch of my age. I'll whine about the dress code and barely do anything that shows leadership in the school. They just picked me to be head girl b/c I'm book smart despite being an idiot with no leadership ability (unless its research related) and no common sense as well). Of course, since Hermione is so pathetic in the story, it makes sense that Harry constantly undermines Hermione's position as HG. I mean really, she's just not HG material in this story, so let's just treat her badly anyway.

The story really played up the boys club (Harry, Dumbledore, Mad-eye, Charlie, Arthur and Ron). I actually don't have a problem with male camaraderie and thought some of that was the actually well written and developed in this story. My problem is the juxtaposition of well treated male comaraderie and the treatment of Hermione (and some of the other female characters) gave the story a strong sexist bend.

For the record, I do think you can positively portray male camaraderie and heroism, and explore female neurosis and faults (b/c lord knows we have plenty of them...including stupidly going for the bad boy) without writing in a sexist manner. This story just doesn't cut it my book.

I felt like this was really well written and developed when it came to Ron, but I felt like most of the other characters were treated as immature and flimsy characterizations.

A final disclaimer, I started getting very frustrated / bored with this story around chapter 43 and I then started to skim and missed many chapters. Maybe there was a lot in there that contradicts my views. I didn’t have the patience to stick it out.

Since I want to end a positive note, I will say that there were many instances were your writing was funny, robust and thoughtful (particularly writing about Ron) and I really enjoyed that part.

Can't believing I'm reviewing such an old fic as this, but after spending hours of my day reading all the way from chapter one to this .. Gah.

I'll have to agree with the last comment about this chapter over a year ago. It was retarded. The Hermione in this story was always a bit sussy to me, but I chugged on like a trooper, but now ? I think that the ultimate punishment for the Ron in this fic is to let him get together with this tragedy of a Hermione. Heck the portrayal of Pansy in this fic would be preferable, sheesh.

I can tell I'm gonna need to read some more of Solistice Muse's stuff to get my faith back in fanfiction. -.-
