Casual Hazard 2005-11-26 . chapter 1I can see how you laughed while re-typing this. Henry doesn' come across as the type who would rant - but is very much likely to do so on the inside, just to vent.
So far, the best fiction that tackles the other side of Henry.
Amusing. Very. |
Literary Alchemist 2005-09-16 . chapter 1Americans and Irony...man, it's like oil and water. I loved the story, though, you write well. I'm gonna keep reading your stuff, having only just discovered it, I'm looking forward to more of your stories. :-) |
Gaia Faye 2005-06-13 . chapter 1Yay! Someone writing about existing characters!
Anyhow, it was well-written (just a few grammar/spelling errors), but at certain points the wording doesn't seem like what Henry would say. You're right, though, about Henry seeming to be the type who can go on and on about nothing, especially in the middle of dealing with Walter. As for Eileen, I know this was just your opinion at the time, but I gotta mention that, hey, she was pretty injured, and it takes a lot of guts to smack a monster with just your pocketbook. I don't think your use of irony is correct, by the way. It would be ironic if a person who, say, actually liked the realm was meant to destroy it.
As for continuity, Ashfield doesn't neighbor Silent Hill; it's a day's drive away. And you mention Henry enjoying reading books, but in the game, if you examine the bookshelf he mentions that he hasn't touched them since he moved in two years ago (God, I'm nitpicky...), so I don't think he's much of a reader.
But as for Henry's frustration and fear and worrying that he's bordering on totally losing it, I'm right with you.
So, ah, welcome to the world of Silent Hill fanfiction! I hope you don't get so confused that you give up on it. (By far, Silent Hill 1 is the most confusing. I didn't even get it until I read a plot analysis of it.) |
Saddened Soul 2005-06-12 . chapter 1Well, you really can't blame Henry; he's just an unlucky guy who moved into Room 302... sealing his fate as the twenty- first victim of 'The Descent of the Holy Mother- The 21 Sacraments' ritual.
But I liked this... in all of its... well, I'm not entirely sure...
I like how Henry only thinks of Cynthia and Richard; they were really the only people he actually conversed with. And then there's Eileen... the woman who has been, unknowingly, involved in this since she was a child.
This really showed how Henry felt... going in and out of holes, fending off the same surreal creatures, protecting Eileen, and the worst of it all- in the end, it isn't going to get that much better. Sure, he may save Eileen and stop the boogeyman, but he can't go back to Room 302 and just... start over.
But, hopefully, Henry knows that the boogeyman exists... in the form of a man wearing a navy colored coat and khaki pants... W. S.
