She was an unnecessary distraction, and stopped the flow of the story you were trying to tell. Larry overcame Charlie's guilt rather easily - there's no sense of resolution of the guilt or of Charlie's moving through it. The story wrapped too quickly. Positive points: if anyone is going to do the misplaced guilt thing, it is Charlie! The quirky friendship between Charlie and Larry deserves more exploration.

That's a bit vague, and without an explanation looks like a convenient plot device to get Don nervous. You can do better than that - I've see you do it! Second, how is Larry hurt? That's left a bit vague.

I had a bit of trouble believing the leap Larry makes in identifying his unknown assailant as the Phantom. If I understand Larry's character, he is all about proofs; I don't think he'd abandon a core personality trait in a moment of panic. The question whether this was the Phantom could logically occur to him. I also had a bit of trouble with the idea that a person could go from the confusion and disorientation of a violent assault to the certain knowledge that he was going to die in a matter of seconds. That's a lot of clarity of thought, under the circumstances. Otherwise, again, good beginning.
