This is beautiful, and it really puts everything into perspective. You have described their bond perfectly, and I would very much like to think that when Anakin struck him down the second time around, it was simply because Obi-Wan was tired to seeing what had become of the person he had come to love after all those years. I think the darkness was too much for him to bear.
