Oh, gutrenching. I love the subtle glimpses of Kakashi.
just another fma fan.

Kakashi? Either way this is nice. peaceful and sad at the same time. I think Yondaime knew what he was doing, even if we don't. I just think we're lucky Kyuubi wasn't locked in Hinata, I don't think she'd take that very well... But Naruto is Naruto, so it all works out. ^^ And Jiraiya's explanation of a shinobi is genius. xD "Shinobi are weapons, and we use what other tools we have on hand to get the job done." The part about kids knowing how to kill but not build was perfect too... I'm sure a lot of kids were like that back then...

That was really introspective and a little morbid of Jiraiya, but a nice and accurate short character analysis piece. Plus bonus points for the kid who cannot create. There's a sobering thought about ninja upbringing.

An interesting piece. I would never have pegged Jiraiya of all people to be pessimistic enough to think that way. I would think he'd be the first to think of the boy as a hero instead of a tool.

Wow I think this was really insightful and a bit sad. Very rarely do you see stories that portray the serious side of Jiraiya. Great job.

Very...insightful. Actually, it's more like...thought provoking. Most shinobi only know how to destroy. Great fic.

Loved it. Great view of Jiraiya. Details really captivate. Sarutobi breaking the pipe, the broken roof, Jiraiya seeing himself through the kid (Kakashi?) trying to fix it but not quite knowing how...
Wonderful work.

1. I'm rather a big fan of the 'weapon or hero' argument because really, when you get right down to it, sometimes it sucks to be born as a ninja with a talent/curse that makes you special but oh!so!weird and (or) messed up.
2. I'm rather a big fan of your writing, for what it's worth.
3. The end bit, that thing with the boy. so maybe he is kakashi, that's cool. But maybe its jiraiya seeing himself, which is how i read it at first. And maybe jiraiya is the only one that really gets the 'biuld' part of the equation, because he's the dreamer, the creator, and the one that biulds naruto into the hero. and the weapon. The more i think about this, the more thinking there is to be done. How happy this makes me. Thank you.
