| Altariel 2005-11-27 ch 1, | abuseI'd love to see this developed into a longer story. |
| Angranse 2005-10-06 ch 1, | abuseThis is fantastic. I really love the politics as you describe it here - who would stand with Faramir and who would stand with the King. I've never really thought about it, but your version sounds so realistic and plausible. I also love this characterisation of Faramir. It's wonderful to see Faramir as someone strong and cunning in his own right, who will put Gondor before all else. And that bit of Eowyn/Faramir romance was very sweet. I'd be fascinated to read anything more you had to write on this topic, because it is very thought provoking. |
| Gandalf -Dumbledore -Obi-Wa... 2005-08-27 ch 1, | abusethat was really good! it had a lot of detail and was very accurate and believable and had everyone in character. you have a lot of skill- this kind of story is hard to write. i loved it! ^^ |
| lindahoyland 2005-08-20 ch 1, | abuseThis was excelent and you covered many points that have often crossed my mind, such as would Aragorn have been tempted to leave Faramir and how did the people react. |
| Snarky Loki 2005-07-30 ch 1, | abuseNicely executed with an intriguing premise. I imagine Ol' Telcontar would have had his eye on this after a year -- he was pretty sensitive to politics even while the whole thing was ready to go crashing down about his ears (remaining outside the city, etc etc). More, please. |
| KittiMarlowe 2005-07-20 ch 1, | abusei adore this; it's sensitive and unique. i like the fact you brought up here, surely not everyone would have welcomed a new king they'd never seen or heard of before. that's a good point. i like the writing, it's descriptive without being ostentatious. | Raksha The Demon 2005-07-09 ch 1, | abuseHow wonderful that here are good people representing those who are stunningly loyal to Faramir above all. And I like the allusions to his personal bonds of loyalty to Beor and Emmereth; and the recognition of Faramir's skill with animals. But I just adore the last three paragraphs! |
| Lilan 2005-07-09 ch 1, | abuseVery true. I also had my suspicions as to whether Aragorn got unconditional love of his new subjects right away. And Faramir would surely be the one to try and look into the matter. Those animals made it absolutely sweet! Especially the kitten. The whole issue of the popular distrust of the new authority figures is a complicated one, and I am glad you tackled it. Of course, it would seem more appropriate to them to still incline towards the old rulers, especially since they did not seem to be that bad and guarded their land for years and years. You show Faramir as a very wise and cunning type, which he undoubtedly was, feeling the ground thus and paving the way for the person he himself trusts and respects. Beautiful. And Éowyn is, as ever, a gem! Regards, Lilan |
| Acacea 2005-07-09 ch 1, | abuseThat was nice! A very interesting subject handled very well and quite refreshingly. I can quite well imagine given the number of years the hurins held the stewradship that there would be those loyal to them, as a family, and just because of their position and power and that those would consist also of ordinarty men and women. Faramir's characterisation works beautifully here I think:) It seems very much him to adopt this restrained and rather quietly canny way of finding out how things stand and at the same tiem pointing out how he sees that they should stand. Very well done. |
