KHwhitelion 2008-11-03 . chapter 4 ...still too lazy to log in...
wow, that was really well done! sad, mind you, especially Charile's near break down. But I enjoyed it XD Interesting how you gave Charlie glasses. But I think it added to the contrast in him and Wonka...although they both sounded somewhat crazy at the end XD |
just jacs 2007-09-25 . chapter 4oh i loved this so bitter sweet very ic not very many wilder fics love it |
Yva J. 2007-05-30 . chapter 4I think your portrayal of the characters was really well done. Imagining Wonka with spots was just too delicious for words. Terribly creative idea you had going there! I like your writing and don't see anything to complain about with it. Of course after 15 years, Charlie is going to change and won't be the same person as he was back when.
I think his getting angry with Wonka was so totally normal, I would have done the same. One eventually grows tired of trying to prove themselves to another, and Wonka should have known that trying to test Charlie yet again was going to literally blow up in his face.
I also thought Charlie's fear about losing Wonka was so totally human. It is natural when someone has been grieving a loss (in his case 3), that he would grow fearful that everyone he has come close to would pass on. With Wonka's crazy experiments, I could see where this fear could possibly be realized. Very human reactions and ideas playing out by both characters.
To sum it up, this was a very good story to read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to find some more of your work to delve into. Good job and thanks for sharing it. |
breadandchoc 2006-05-27 . chapter 4Lord, you're such a brilliant writer. Fantastic IC-ness, plot, dialogue (don't get me started on the warm, glow-in-your-chest dialogue that says all the perfect and *right* things), controlled pacing... Worth a re-read, as always.
Why aren't you writing anymore? > |
Kara 2006-04-09 . chapter 4 This is so *wonderful*. It's been a while since I've seen that particular movie, but I think that the characters were who they were supposed to be, according to the story's circumstances.
I like how Charlie's character has grown, and I love how it can be felt how close Charlie and Wonka have become in the course of fifteen years or so. I am surprised by how clearly I could 'see/hear' Wilder-Wonka, his voice, his looks, tone, mannorisms, (sp?) 'cause it's been a while since I've seen anything with him in it.
Their dialogue, especially Wonka's, really, REAlly, conveys their characters to a tea, (a T?) really perfectly.
There were parts in this that made me laugh so hard. (quietly, of course, considering how late/early it is, and that my mom's sleeping in practically the next room)
The ending is brilliantly sublime, especially how they are more relaxed around eachother - the crisis is past...
Not to mention the brilliant wittiness of it all! I am metaphorically glowing from th e unique wonderfullness of the ending. I love this! I love you for writing it so well! Thank you! |
skrblr 2006-04-05 . chapter 4Yippee! I just read the whole thing, and liked it very much. That last part. . . With the poem, and the conversation on Wonka's Wacky Whackers, and all that sort of thing. . . It was all fantastic! I found nothing wrong with the characters of the characters, as they all seemed quite in-character. Yep! Except now I keep thinking the room I'm in smells like burnt fudge (from the first chapter), and it's no doubt causing a lot of really strange nose-wrinkling.
Lots of dialogue in this story! It's very nice. It all sounds just like them, too. Plus, even in spite of comparatively meager descriptions, you still manage to convey the atmosphere of the place and everything. Incredible! Can't think of anything you could improve. |
Aloe 2006-03-24 . chapter 4 I'd go with "taking it to its' illogical extreme."
Very well done. |
Lizard Pie 2005-09-07 . chapter 4Very good, particularily the prediction of death. |
Marchwriter 2005-08-22 . chapter 4Oh, I dearly loved this. It was the first fanfic of Gene Wilder's version of Wonka that I've read.
I did enjoy it so and the 'creative bullshitting' as you so eloquently put it is very amusing as well as entertaining. Which basically means the same thing but it sounds like a double compliement doesn't it? ;)
Cheers!

Padawan Jan-AQ 2005-08-22 . chapter 3yikes! O.O I didn't see that one coming. But the mini fudge lake earlier WAs clever. :) |
Padawan Jan-AQ 2005-08-22 . chapter 2Hehehehe... lol. I love Wonka as a nervouse old inventing man, lol. So incharacter. I was worried about the factory too! :) |
 Padawan Jan-AQ 2005-08-22 . chapter 1Oh wow. Haha great premise. :) |
Maleficent Angel 2005-08-10 . chapter 4Creative bullshitting is as good a phrase as any.
I can't understand why people would whinge about Charlie - the lad GREW UP people!
As for Wonka, he's more Wilder than Dahl wrote I think, but he's still essentially Wonka. Wonka to the point that you could take the 2005 Depp Wonka and slip him into your story and it wouldn't jar that much. Although we would have to say that Wonka had mellowed with age if we did that.
Am I rambling? I'm rambling aren't I? Anyway, what I meant to say was - nice story and very pleased to read something true to the book. |
hmmm 2005-08-07 . chapter 4 i think that the old WW was more mature then the new one. |
