And you did a bang-up job of making Nicolai less one-dimensional ( and more studly, but that's beside the point XD)so kudos to you. Please continue! I'll even bake you a pie. Apple. Genoscythe 2005-09-18 ch 3,	abuseFirst off, I love your style. It's descriptive and fast-paced at the same time, which is hard for most people. Most importantly, you know the meaning of the words spell check and grammar. Truly, I wish there were more writers on like you. All things considering, I just couldn't wrap my brain around the idea of Nicolai surviving (and Saki of all people appearing on the scene just in time to save him). Maybe I'm just a little bit bitter that Nicolai condemned a man he didn't know all for the sake of power, but I think the head-squishing was a fitting end for him. Even though this may seem like a negative point, it's not. I still liked the story, even though the entire concept bugged me. Trust me, that's not easy to do. Keep up the good work.
Puffy Tribulation 2005-09-14 ch 3,	abuse"against Kato and his Apes." Lord I know it's not supposed to be funny, but I find it so! What? This is the last? Oh, well, I don't know how Nicolai survived that head squishing act Kato did on him, and I still don't know why Saki rescued him. But all in all, this was a gem of a story. Love the descriptions, love the way the characters interacted.

(oh, let me tell you that SH readers are very few, and those who do read won't even bother to leave a review.) You better get used to silence and just do your piece, it's lovely! Better than some I've come across here which get more reviews than they deserve!

That was a nice description about the village, the interaction between Saki and the elderly woman. Right now, I'm buzzing with one single question: Why does Saki care what happens to Nikki?

And with good reason I suppose. After all, Nicholas has virtually destroyed him - that would put a deep and abiding anger in anyone's heart. Further, I loved that description of Nicholas... I had to read that line a half dozen times to get the feel of it in my mouth, my tongue to twist around the words and taste just how that felt. haha, yup, it was that good! "Should Yuri see you alive," she said softly, "I'm sure he would kill you." One of those fine points that has spun in my mind throughout my playing of SHII/Covenant. Even though Nicholas did such a horrid deed to Yuri, even though Yuri used that to drive him to Asia to find Nicholas, even though he mouthed all sorts of nasty comments about Nicholas, he still showed some signs of regret about Nicholas's death. Or I misinterpreted what was going on in the game (probably). It was one of those weird thoughts that here is an enemy, but it's the demon that's deadly, not Nicholas. He warned off Nicholas in Apoina, it was a competition between these two. In Apoina he would have killed him. And maybe in Japan, until he saw Astaroth. At that point I have often wondered if, after Fujisan, he would have still killed the ex-cardinal. Oh, nevermind, just me thinking out loud. Reading further, omg! Putting on the cassock was like putting on armor. He suddenly rises to the occassion and with such strength! Yeah, that's why I like him. He's a mixture of good and evil. The Japanese fans always adored him - I thought they were nuts, mind. But they had an understanding of him that Westerners didn't. It is not that he is evil but that he is driven and in spite of his efforts, he is a failure. The pathos of that failure must show them something in this man. And when one thinks of how he died in the game, his last breath a cry out to Karin, both as a human affection, and an attempt at control... yup, one of my favorite characters (having written a piece with him, I find I like him more than I probably should!). This is a great little piece, and I don't know why no one else is commenting. I hope they are at least reading this. You've got a great command of the language, use passionate and forceful language and tell a very gripping and introspective tale. I hope to see something else with your by-line; you've got talent!
Omnidolor 2005-08-16 ch 3,	abuseI really like what you're doing here. I, for one, always thought that the Nicholai in the game only acted that way because that was how he was "trained" to be. Had he not suffered liek he did, he most likely would have grown up just fine. I can't wait to see where this goes. And yes, the Saki/Nicholai ness is there, but I think it's more like a mother son thing, which Nicholai didn't have.
MikoNoNyte 2005-07-28 ch 2,	abuseFirstly, don't blame Midway, they only localized and distributed Covenant. The owner's of the game, the developers were Nautilus. Okay, faceted eyes. I officially love it! It is so tempting to dwell for long, romantic moments on Nikki and his ... various attractive body parts. I know; I suffer that too XD Sounds like Saki's been given the lo-down on this guy. But what puzzles me is how you will explain away Kato killing him? I mean, Kato put his thumbs through Nikki's face, crushing his skull. So that's going to take some getting around. Which is not a complaint. Just curious. Please, continue when you can.

It was short and I had only a few minutes but it was well spent. I'm not sure where you're going, but it was interesting. Your choice of descriptions, your use of language was excellent! A+ You captured a more serious side to Saki that most people miss, which was a good call. And I look forward to what you manage to bring to this exploration.
