This is very well-written and interesting.
One thing though: Kohaku's only like a year older than Rin, but it makes for a good story!

I very seldomly like a Kohaku/Rin pairing, mostly because writers tend to do it with a 'it's supposed to happen' easiness that doesn't exist in canon. But this, I liked. It *made sense* and didn't step over any characterisations, Sesshoumaru's included (and that is very hard to pull off)

great story. is it a one-shot? i was just wondering because it looks like a good place to add more chapters (or not).

still, if it is a one-shot, i gotta say, it's really awesome. kohaku as a wandering tortured soul has suprising depth. chasing after someone unattainable makes him all the more interesting. a little unrequited, but that's what makes it complicated story.

*sigh* Boggy, you are wonderful. The words, the phrases, the characterization, and the situation--all spot on. It scares me how good you are at this. I suppose I can allow myself to blame my inferiority and general awe with your work on pure inexperience. Then again, there are a select few other authors who also never. Cease. To Amaze.

The only thing is, for KOhaku being five years her senior, it wouldn't be a big problem, especially in the feudal era. The Japanese women were marrying men who were sometimes thirty or fourty years older than them if it enhances their family's status. I think a better arguement for this section would be Kohaku's lack of rank. As I understand, he's a wandering demon slayer, and Rin is the 'child' of a powerful demon lord. So, rank, not age, would be Kohaku's argument against himself.
