To NikkiPup (what's up w/ your sn anyways?)
Just shut UP about pit, ok? In our band, pit doesn't get to stay inside for ANYTHING. Actually, we have to stay outside while the rest of the band does sectionals INSIDE-how's that for unfair? Every practice, we (the pit, only the pit-7 pple) lug 2 marimbas, vibes, 2 xylos, 2 bass drums, 5 timps, and all auxilary stuff down to the field, which is a pretty long ways away from the band room. On the way back up we have to push this up a VERY steep, large hill. With no help. And our equipment's wheels are not exactly top-notch so we really have to shove to get it up there. We end up getting out of practice about a half hour later than everyone else. Sound fair to you?

Right on!

I think everyone in the band works so hard. Our band probably doesn't work as hard as some b/c we don't compete lately but it still is hard work. I can only imagine the amount of time and effort competing marching bands put into their show. Even if we don't play for awards, we play for the football fans in the stands who really think we're awesome. We probably work as hard as the football players, but we don't get as serious of injuries, thankfully.

I think the thing that makes in physically exerting for me, is that often you are moving as fast as running, but you can only breath ever 4 bars or whatever the phrase is. As for below, orchestral is cool, but without it, band would be just as cool. I really want to play in an orchestral when I'm older though, with my bassoon.

Band may not be an easy class, but orchestra is harder. ORCHESTRA PRIDE! Band may get the Band Hall, but we share it. We rock, man. Nothing is cooler than playing violin, viola (yeah!), cello, or double bass. Because without orchestra, band is a bunch of stupid jocks. _ (ok I'm done now, roast them marshmallows)

I got one for you. Band is open to everyone but you have to try out for a sport you may not get in. Plus, in my school, the M-band is the only club that gets to have their own school dance. I agree with you 1000% on what you wrote.

::grins:: I would say the trumpets have the hardest time...We have to support our egos and all... ;P Um, go Shar! You chew out those idiots who have no bloody clue what being in band entitles! Rock on, trumpets!

1. Surface errors are bad. It's called proofreading.

2. Pit is easy. I don't care what anybody says. At my band camp they get ot stay in the cool, shaded rec hall and complain about being cold. -_- I would like to see them try to march in 100 degree heat on a field with no grass. Or during shows. I wouldn't mind lifting the pit instruments. My band helps the pit every rehersal anyway. Pit is easy.

I *so* agree. *takes notes for drum major tryouts* You know what really annoys me? People who say that marching is the same thing as walking. They should have to learn how to march, then have to learn a show in two weeks, all during the hottest weeks of the summer. Okay, I'll stop ranting before I really get started. _ Anyway, it's good!

Okay, I want to apoligize to those that couldn't read my story. I was just informed that some received a blank screen, others got random characters, and them some oculd actualy read the danged stories... Is ffn against me, or marching band? Oh well. Hope these are easier to read.
