Nothing short of astonishing. A very interesting read. I simply loved this story. I was actually thinking of converting it into lyrics for an ROD Broadway musical--by your permission, of course.

I like this idea a LOT. This could really develop into something. The little scene between these two is nice by itself, despite some technical glitches.

I do suspect there's some tension between these two from the start, though. In her own way, Nancy/Mata Hari is just as powerful a personality as Ikkyu--more so, in fact, when you take the end of the OVA into consideration. In the last scene on the rocket, Nancy complains that he used to love her more.

I realize there's a lot of confusion in the fandom over certain issues surrounding these two. If you haven't already, take another look at the bit in the OVA (Part 3) where Wendy shows Joker the 'original' Nancy's birth certificate. It is in English, NOT Japanese, which suggests that 'Nancy' died in Britain, NOT Japan. (A blowup of the screenshot will show that, and maybe other useful info as well.)There aren't too many churchyards in Japan, either--unless you're in Kyushu, where most of the old Catholic community lives. There are, of course, many more recent communities of converts in the big cities and suburbs.

Other stuff about 'Nancy.' She's clearly meant to be half-British, half-Japanese, like Yomiko. A full Japanese could of course go to Cambridge, but I don't see how someone without at least dual citizenship could be a British policewoman. The surname Makuhari is usually explained in the RODverse as the Japanese rendering of McHarry--a real British surname.

There is a problem here though--since Yomiko comes form the British expat community in Japan, it's clearly one that Joker recruits from and that he's familiar with. THAT means Ikkyu and Nancy 1 would have to work awfully damned hard to put over their deception. They'd have to work FAST, too. If you check both Part I of the OVA (the bit in the BL where Joker is doing exposition for Yomiko and Mr. G) and Wendy's report/exposition in the TV, it seems pretty clear that the 'window' of time for the break-in at the gene bank, the Dok experiments and the creation of the Ijin (including both the Nancy 1 we know and Ikkyu), the full development of the Ikkyu-Nancy love affair (which seems in the OVA to have been going on for a long while),Ikkyu's rebellion against Dok, and his own plot would be terribly narrow--possibly no more than a year.

To be honest, I think Kurata just got sloppy and failed to reconcile all these details. They pose some major hurdles for anyone (like you) who is trying to deal with that period in the ROD chronology, to say nothing of the problems they create for understanding Nancy's nature, origins, and personality. I know, because I write Nancy stuff myself.

I certainly want to encourage you with this plot bunny. I'd love to see you go forward and develop it further. I like what you've done with it already. Just be aware of all the traps, though. Kurata has really confused things here.

This is a great start, I was going to write a similar fic on how Ikkyu got away from Dokushensha but you beat me to it, overall you should write more. :)
