You have no idea how happy it made me to see this story updated again! Awesome chapter, really; finally getting some reactions from Riddle, which is nice. And honestly, I just adore your characterization. It's the best part, although your prose is a close second. The yummy angst, the inner conflict, the whole guarded dance these two have going...ugh I could just read it forever.
Plus if a little hand-touch is that intense, I can't wait for the real romance. ;)

I'm surprised that Tom wasn't suspicious on what Ginny said at the ending of her story. I am surprised she said anything.

I'll admit right now that Tom and Hermione are one of my favorite shippers. I love Ginny more, I write her better, she is more interesting and awesome but Hermione is more popular. I never understood why Hermione and Tom stories are more popular then Ginny and Tom. I mean personally wouldn't it make more sence if Ginny and Tom stories were more popular? I mean Ginny's first year at Howarts with Tom's diary...makes sence right? But no its Tom/Hermione... I do like Hermione stories though, love them actually. It just fits better with Hermione. But I mean Hermione has her own site full of stories with pairings with her shippers. Granger Enchanted. I wish there was a site like that for Ginny...A popular awesome site like that.
I'd actually love to read a Ginny/Tom diary story. But maybe not when she was 11. With what he had her do, their converations and her falling in love with him...and even a time travling story where he discovers some of her secrets and discovers who Tom Riddle is to her. What his soul did to her in the form of his young Tom Riddle body. I think it would be interesting.

um in all of the other time travel stories that I read McGonagal went to school with Tom. The same year...Also I wish that the Malfoy in your story was Abraxas...I Love Abraxas.

Guhhhhhh it's been so long! I just reread the entire thing because I barely remembered it. Please don't make us wait that long again! I loved this chapter, although the end got a bit confusing. I can't tell if Tom used Legilimency and saw her memories or if she was just remembering. Loved the slight foray into hand-holding though! And also, I love your Tom. He's just as he should be... I can't stand the sweet Toms I see. He becomes Voldemort and murders thousands, he can't simply be changed by having a friend. And I know you understand this and there's going to be a lot more to it. :) So, please update soon!
I love it! They are both such complex characters and it's refreshing to see someone expand on them. Although I have to say, nothing makes my day more than Ginny beating on someone mostly because she has all this aggression bottled up she just needs an outlet!
Just started reading this story today, and its pretty interesting. I've read a couple Tom/Ginny back-in-time stories before, and you've done a good job avoiding some of the pitfalls. First of all, the characterization is pretty spot on. Ginny's not some hysterical lunatic trying to either fuck or murder everyone, and Tom isn't some misunderstood anti-hero immediately smitten with the first girl to see past his line of crap. I feel like he's interested in her because, yes, she's different, but largely because he's attracted to the power that she holds and wants to understand it. I don't for a second think that if Ginny was weak and sniveling that Tom would give her time of day. It was a nice scene for me when the council was discussing Ginny's demotion and Tom just sat back and didn't interfere. He probably had more insight about her than anyone else on the council, but it was telling that he chose to allow her demotion to cut her off more from others - so that she would rely on him. It nicely mirrors what we know if his behavior in COS to become Ginny's only confidant and distance her from others that would allow her to be independent of him.
I agree with your characterization of Ginny as a meld of the Ginny we know with a woman who has recently gone through some extremely traumatic war time. Her interactions with others and thoughts are interesting, but if I have one criticism it would be that I don't like her flashbacks much. I feel like you do a better job at illustrating what she's been through when you hint at it and allude to it and leave it up to our imaginations to fill in the blanks. The horrific boggart deaths, the memories she saw when training occulmency with Dumbledore feel exaggerated. I think that Ginny's health problems and the litany of potions she must imbibe underscore her traumatic past enough that spelling some of the details out so explicitly is overkill.
What feels really original to me about your story is what you've done with the world building. The council/ranking system in Slytherin is a novel one, and sets us up for some nice plot developments that don't have to rely strictly on whatever is going on between Tom and Ginny. This is a very good thing, as it means you don't have to rush things or put them in absurd situations just to move the story along. Zambini is a charming character, and its easy to like him as much as Ginny does. I smiled a bit to see him talking to her after her demotion, showing he really did like her a bit beyond whatever her rank was before. And after that conversation, to see Ginny go and help a Hufflepuff... he'd inspired her to take her new rank as the freedom to start behaving more like Ginny again. (At least, thats how I interpreted it).
I expect she'll be reaching out more to others, and recover mentally as she recovers magically. It's an interesting dynamic you've set up with Riddle as her tutor; in a way, he's fixing her (while meanwhile having his own motives) while she'll be trying to fix a brokenness in him he doesn't even think he has.
At any rate, this was a fun read and I like what you've done with the tone. It will be nice to see where you're going with this next :)
((As for your author's note about letting you know where we'd like to see it go? Personally, I'd like to see Ginny turn the Slytherin ranking system on its head by the end of the year. I don't think they know how to handle a Slytherin like her!))
I've been reading you since before I even got an ff account, and I still remember "Sunshine, Daisies, Butter Mellow" and all your other parodies, but I've never managed to leave you a proper review. The shame of it, I know.
I think I vaguely remember how this story went when I read this the first time around, and it's great to see how far you've grown as a writer. Just a question though: there've been a lot of changes to this story (and I'm not complaining, this is practically the only HP fic that I'm consistently reading - despite the break between updates - nowadays) but will it still end the same way? Squirming in my seat trying to find out.
and your TOM RIDDLE. He's like a prowling panther, the most casual question would make normal people all "ain't no thang" but OH HO HO NOT GINNY. she sees right through him and I imagine it frustrates him, but he just doesn't show it. in a way it's kind of seductive, all their interactions and sometimes I find myself not even daring to blink when reading because my my my my, your Tom Riddle is definitely my favourite of all Tom Riddles there is in the FF world.
I hope you update soon (I use that term loosely) but no matter, your updates are well worth the wait. Wish I could add this to my favourites but it's already been there since 2007. :3
