Gammara's right, the intro is a bit nasty. I remember you tearing me a new one over a fic I wrote after "harbinger" aired. Remember that one. The story itself was well-written, as always, but was that intro really necessary?

Of course, I'm an A/T'Per (and an open-minded one, gosh!), so feel free to ignore my opinion on this matter.

I liked this. Relationships are complex. Love and need aren't always the same thing, and sometimes love isn't requited. That's life. I liked the understated tone; it felt very real to me.

I really love the way you write, Samantha. This story was a bit hard for me simply because I've never seen Archer and T'Pol as anything more than captain and loyal first officer. I honestly didn't even see a deep friendship between them. Go figure!

That said, I'm not a Vulcan so I can't judge T'Pol for her actions in this story, but I'm sure she probably felt them all to be quite logical.

Finally, I think you're right in that the two of them did not end up together. I think Riker would have brought something of that significance up in TATV yet he didn't. I have no problem with fans of that particular pairing writing their fics, though, 'cause heck, I wrote my fix-it for my happy ending! :-)

gammara - Struck a nerve, did I? :) Excuse me if I don't take an A/T'Pers view on this fic very seriously. Particularly when you didn't bother to read the fic. T'Pol isn't waiting around on Trip. She just doesn't want Archer's stupid self. You know, kind of like the show told us?

I haven't bothered to read the other A/T'P fics that deal with Trip's death for the very reasons you site. Yours I read, though, and I'm glad.

I could see T'Pol relying on Jon as a friend post TATV, but nothing more.

I really think T'Pol would move on. I doubt it would be right away. But, I don't think she'd spend her life thinking about Trip, particularly since they broke up before TATV aired. But, that's entirely your choice as a writer.

Here's something that I think impacts your writing. Your hatred for characters (Archer) makes them two-dimmensional. Maybe there's a way you can see past your dislike and find something you enjoy? It'd make your writing more authentic and more fun to read.

This is well written. Apparently, Vulcans don't subscribe to the "You broke him, you bought him" theory. One nitpick: It's "Margaret" (Mullin), not Maureen. I liked how you kept them both totally in character.

Thank you! The preponderance of post-TATV A/T'P fics has annoyed me as well, and I'm glad to see a sane, reasonable response. Mind you, I would prefer to have Trip alive, well, and with T'Pol. Barring that, I can't see T'Pol just running to Archer and that's that. "I do know that Trip’s memory is not all that prevents us from being together," is great. It makes so much sense.

I liked this - although I hate the idea that TPTB would screw T'Pol over the way they did - I embrace the stance that she would not simply move on to Jon once Trip was gone - 'yer damn skippy she wouldn't!
