The story was really well written. I liked it a lot. I have a question for you though. Have you ever watched Due South? There's one episode somewhere in the series that has the same name as your story and is remarkably similar to yours. Did I catch a clever reference?

sad and touching friendship fic

Heh. I remember that episode of Due South, and it translates surprisingly well to Stargate Atlantis. Great story! And love the ending with Ford hearing Shepard still singing over the radio.

I enjoyed it all right. Usually I hate ff's that switch POV around, but it ended up being a wonderful style of writing in this ff. I absolutely loved it, and you write these characters so well. :D

Howdy! I've only recently discovered SGA, and have been happily skipping along through the stories, going from one author's recs to another. Following a link from Gaffer42 led me to this story, and I'm very glad that it did.

Your story provided a refreshing change of pace, with Rodney forced into the role of hero, and John needing to be rescued. You did an excellent job with the characterizations, with every thought, word, and deed true to the characters as I understand them to be.

I've not seen all of the episodes, so I appreciated the sad backstory on both John and Rodney, even if it was provided by ghosts. The way that you had Rodney confess that he'd lied about the camping, not wanting the lie to carry on after his death, was heartstring-tugging.

You mixed just the right blend of the serious with the humorous in this. I'm relieved that I couldn't hear the singing. I absolutely loved how the Wraith ('Dave' LOL!) ultimately met his demise. Just when it looked like Rodney's best efforts had failed, you tossed a chunk of the planet on top of the beastie.

It didn't hurt any that you referenced a fine old favorite show, Due South. Anyway, I just wanted to say, thanks for sharing!

i have to ask are you a due south fan? because this is a lot like the repeat of the epsode i call wildernss survieval 101 that aired on itv 3 (channel 34 freeview) last week and is one of my favourite episodes. you have done really well writing this, it's well very written, friendship scenes between mckay and sheppard are my favourites and i think you've done this one proud! keep it up
