I've sailed some, to the Dry Tortugas and more, and the language of the vessel is true. Your writing is like a beautiful day in the winter, clear, precise, promise of soon life again. Elisabeth(all of us) long for it, want the taste of it and you capture that longing so truly. There are two devastatingly lines you wrote:
Jack she said low and fierce, promise and prayer, Jack.
and this is how I imagine Elisabeth would pray at this time.
Yes, so do I
what other answer could there be to end your Ladies' conversation. Please more, fair winds

you are the best j/e author i have ever read! i tried to e-mail you but was unable to log on due to my browser. as a j/e fan, i have a story rolling around in my head which i hope you will want to write after you read my "outline." it can or cannot be as lengthy as you like, and is a definite "R" story. i am not a writer but you are, and you can have full credit for the story. interested? let me know. have written e-mail address under my name.

The emotion in this is incredible. It's one of the best Elizabeth pieces I've ever read, and the best Pearl insight.

Very beautiful and sad.

WOW - I haven't read the story is is an extract from. But this is such a touching scene - usually Elizabeth annoys me as she can be put across as a wet, whiney little miss. But the longing and the fear in this, the bitter humour - the closest to how I imagined her being, and possibly MORE Elizabth-y than the film, if that makes sense.
I shall definatly be seeking out "reasons to believe" after reading this...

I have read with great pleasure all of your Jack and Elizabeth sotires and vignettes, not so much because I think such a pairing is likely or because I'm thrilled by the idea of a deceased Will but because for the duration of your tale you write with graceful and expressive prose and keen psychological insight enough to convince me. You write with such sympathy and well-rounded multi-demensional characters and realistic pacing you make me keep an eye out for your new work. Thanks!!
