Very lovely, this. A sensitive and suynpathetic look into a nation-wide social problem. Definitely in character- Merton whimpers and runs away if he can, but mostly he is intelligently resigned to his fate. Because of the last line, I would call him a hero.

I hate it when teachers do that. They went as far as to search my backpack for weapons. Hmph...just because I dress like I crawled out of a graveyard...teachers are such alarmists

I've been reading BWOC fanfic all night(insomniac much?)and I think this one is my favorite.It's the one I can most relate to.I thought about bombing my school in 7th grade.The part about controling your daydreams is good advice.But if Mrs.Pierce was a real person and said that my religion(Wicca)wasn't a real religion
