I noticed Ai's particularly odd behavior toward Ran once or twice, but the thought that it was over Conan/Shinichi had never crossed once. I've read about Akemi and couldn't help but consider how similar to Ran she was, so I'd always felt that's why Ai had issues with Ran. I think your story reflects the thought very well! This was probably my most fav. Ai centric Fic ever!! (if I were a member, It'd be in my faves list! Keep up the good work!

RanMouri82 2005-08-12 ch 1,	abuseRarely is Ai and Ran's relationship explored, and even more rarely is it explored accurately. Thanks for writing that kind of story! It was a clever idea to draw parallels with Ran and Akemi, especially since Ran has reminded Ai of Akemi before. My educated guess is that Ai's main issue with Ran is Ran's potential to endanger her safety, because Conan's love for Ran could compel him to make a fatal mistake and blow their cover; after all, it's more likely that Ran's similarity to Akemi actually enables Ai to make peace with her. My suggestion, however, would be to avoid having Ran cry and embrace Ai too easily; it is obvious, of course, that Ran more easily cries and embraces others than many of the other characters. This story did a fine job in taking a simple scenario, that of waiting at Tropical Land, and using it as a means of character exploration. Even the simple repetition of "perfectly OK" helped highten the drama and elevate the story. Keep writing!
Kaitou Magician 2005-08-12 ch 1,	abuseI really liked the interaction between Ai and Ran. I also think that Ai's biggest issue with Ran is her similarity to Akemi. Really, I think Ai respects Ran a lot. She tells Conan that Ran's stronger than he thinks (mentally and emotionally), and often compares Ran to Akemi (who she obviously likes) and other favorable things (like her shining dolphin comment).

(hugs) You're such a good writer! xD "Personally, I think Ran and Ai would make a great team driving Shinichi crazy.." Before, I didn't have much of an opinion on Ai - she was just... there, to me. Now, you have changed my opinion! (glomps) And have also given me plot bunnies for In the Blink of an Eye... (and I'll get to working on your Shin/Ran scene, dear!) Thank you for writing that! YumeTakato 2005-08-12 ch 1,	abuseXD yeah, messing with him would be awesome (they sort of do it indirectly anyways) And yeah, Ai sort of now thinks of Ran as an older sister (from the vermouth/jodei/Conan/Ai/shuichi/etc incident.) so -shrugs- I REALLY enjoyed this though. X3 yay! There's not enough good Ai/Ran interection.
