jesi ki kage 2009-07-29 . chapter 17i really love this story and plan to go read the rewrite in a minute but do you think you could write a version of this story from harry's pov? that would be really great if you could and thanks for writing stories so people like me can read them. please keep up the good work both of you and keep writing! |
Ginny Hate 2008-10-24 . chapter 1 I like all your fics so much, I'll continue reading this even though I abhor Ginny. |
vertically challenged. dang it 2008-10-19 . chapter 16Hey! Okay, this one goes to Holden107. First up, I want to say that I absolutely love love love this story. I always thought Ginny could be great friends with Harry (in addition to the whole romance thing) but for some reason there's not much of that. I guess all the fragile!Ginnys and pathetic!Ginnys don't leave room for kickass!Ginnys. Anways, as much as I love anotherdreamer (I am arse over elbows for Prelude to Destiny) I think you did a much better job with this particular story (no offence, anotherdreamer, if you're reading this). Anywho, I was wondering if you could maybe please pretty please tell me what they found out about Tom? PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE WITH A CHERRY ON TOP?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Ahem. The other version is just taking so long, I don't think she'll get there til about chapter 20 (alright, slight exaggeration, maybe... haha). And, uh... I really want to know? Thanks,
broken alice |
Kelss6692 2008-07-27 . chapter 1This was possibly the best prologue i have ever read. It was so well thought of, and i learned a lot about forest fire! The connections you drew between this fire and harry potter were also astounding! If the prologue is any indication of the story, i know it will be great! |
 staggered incite 2008-07-15 . chapter 17Hi.
Wow. I've been searching for this story forever. I just wanted to say that regardless of how agitated I became with it, aspects of your story stayed with me over the years.
Thanks for the read. |
FastTimes90 2008-06-13 . chapter 16This story is amazing- you're one of the best authors on this site. |
Loyd1989 2008-05-27 . chapter 17Well it has been a long ride but a great story. I can imagine the pressure you have to continue, but it looks like it could be a very long story seeing how these first 17 chapters touched a little about Ginny's special powers and they didn't even get into Harry and Ginny's awkward, tension filled relationship. So, continue and let us see where this goes. |
Nukular Winter 2008-05-27 . chapter 17I stumbled across this story (and it's Lily-centric precursor) some time ago and have been following them off and on ever since--mostly off, come to think of it, because of the long delays between updates.
First off, I think both stories are brilliant and I've enjoyed them greatly. That said, I'll take this opportunity to address the one issue I found with this story which I hope is resolved in the re-write:
IMO, as the story has progressed, *all* of the character development has happened to Ginny and Harry has been depressingly static.
I realize that there's a tendency in HP fanfiction to develop a character so that they can be "worthy" of being with Harry, but this story has swung so completely beyond that point that although I'd like for Harry and Ginny to get together, I have no idea why she'd pick Harry in light of her other options.
Basically I feel like Ginny has become way too good for Harry, which is odd because I'm a huge fan of Harry... Some balance would be nice (can't they be awesome at the same time?). |
NeoMatrixj2 2008-05-27 . chapter 17I welcome the new version and hope for the best for both of you. I knew I wasn't seeing things when I didn't recognize the story title first. |
 lemonwedges4 2008-05-26 . chapter 17Cool! |
 lemonwedges4 2008-05-16 . chapter 16Omg!
Amazing story! Ginny has always been one of my favorite characters, and I love how you portray her!
Update soon! |
squiditch 2008-05-16 . chapter 16Oh my goodness, that was fabulous. I look forward to reading the next chapter |
My Midnight Fairy 2008-05-12 . chapter 16I had to read the sequel to Prelude to Destiny even though I don't normally read Harry stories. You still have an amazing ability to draw me in and to express things that I would have a problem with. I really wanna know what Ginny's results were but it will probably have a big part to play later on. Post another chapter asap. I look forward to reading it. |
Amanda SaturnVenus 2008-05-04 . chapter 16I'm really, really, really liking your fic. I just spent my Saturday night and whole Sunday reading it. Yes, I was that hooked! :D My husband thinks I'm nuts to spend so many time reading, and since he doesn't understand a word in english, I can't realy fill him in that passion of mine... Great style, you're very good with words: they flow easily, and it's very pleasent to read them. Keep up the good work, and I'm sorry not to write more. I read english much better than I write it. ;)
Sua fic é FODA!
Greetings form Brasil, Amanda. |
hushpuppy22 2008-05-04 . chapter 16I have to express my surprise that this story was written in any part by the author of "Prelude to Destiny". PtD is my favorite HP fan fiction and I've re-read it numerous times for its excellent characterizations and sympathetic, likable and non-Mary Sue Lily Evans. I was so excited to see this story because it was related to PtD in some part and had Harry and Ginny as the main couple. But I am utterly disappointed and appalled at the characterizations in this story. If I didn’t love Prelude to Destiny so much, I wouldn’t have read this story and been so disappointed and probably wouldn’t have written this review.
Your Ginny isn't anyone I've seen in the book and the portrayal of Mrs. Weasley and Hermione are so uncharitable as to be character-bashing. While I may not adore Hermione the way many fans do, it's difficult to argue that the character doesn't act without the best interests of the other characters in mind. You've taken Hermione’s more unfortunate character traits and made them define her, which they don't in canon. How you portray Mrs. Weasley is not so bad as how your Ginny sees her--she has such contempt for her mother. Canon Ginny and canon Harry love and appreciate Mrs. Weasley.
I love Sirius, and think the PtD portrayal was perfect, but you've completely ignored the fact that he *was* mentally imbalanced after 12 years in Azkaban. From your portrayal it seems you've forgotten the Sirius that broke Harry’s heart by telling Harry he was less like James than Sirius had thought. Yes, he was right to want Harry to know more and he did love Harry but he was also childish, immature and hurtful some of the time.
Arguably your Ginny is a Mary Sue. She has powers no one else has, she is wanted by all the boys, is extremely popular and has untold and incomparable horrors in her past that make her able to understand and save the hero. She can tell other people off without reprimand because she always right in your story. She's also somewhat of a shrew. Why would Harry Potter want this girl? For all the whining she does about being so mature and having gone though so much more than everyone else, she holds petty grievances against others and fails to have an ounce of empathy. Your Ginny is still mad at Harry for not being in love with her for four years--if that's not petty, I don't know what is. |
