I love dark Gin/Kira (but could Gin/Kira be written otherwise ?). In your fic, my favourite part is the metaphor with the river and choking.

"Do you want to be saved?
And I’d be choking all over again."

"Even when I can’t see you, I know you’re somewhere, deep in the water, holding the chain around my ankle just waiting to pull me back in."

These parts just made me shudder... Gin is really terrifying.

This was great; really. The relationship was portrayed really beautifully. Kira's loyalty to his captain, and his reason for it, was really brought out. And your writing style is for the win, really. Awesome usage of literary devices. The last line makes me wibble, and the title is frighteningly appropriate.

After episode 45 (I don't read the manga), I've been wondering about this pairing. In the beginning I've already noticed how loyal Kira was, but then I thought 'so are all lieutanents'. Then I began wondering about how easily Gin seem to smile when he visited Kira in the cell...yea.

I love this pairing, I'm jsut a sap for angst, I guess. Anyway, I enjoyed this... so, great job! ^^ :)
