Faerthurin 2009-03-11 . chapter 25Oh. It just seems so /right/. I hope she gets Elrohir in the end. (I thought it was Elladan, though!) |
Faerthurin 2009-03-02 . chapter 23It would be "gwathel vain", actually, though I know that will look horrible to any reader who doesn't understand it. You don't have many errors in Sindarin, though!
Did this company really travel through Rohan? I didn't know that. But with the standard of research I've seen, I'm prepared to take your word for it.
And as to some of your notes on garb, there was underwear in the Middle Ages: braies. Body linens (braies, smocks, and a few other bits and pieces) were not always hidden. Long braies were used as pants by the lower classes, but worn with hose on top if you could afford it. Then there were short braies, which seem identical to modern underwear except with a drawstring instead of elastic. I'm not sure whether they would normally be hidden. A man's tunic would reach to mid-thigh, which is lower.
Thank you for your amazing writing!
Faerthurin / Theophilus
P.S. I love the different ways you ask for reviews in some chapters! |
Faerthurin 2009-03-02 . chapter 14Oh, that is /clever/. The way Katie, after discussing her presence in Middle-earth with Erestor, echoes Elrond's explanation of Frodo as Ringbearer. So perfectly explained, without her knowing that he said it already. |
TudeDeluxe 2009-03-01 . chapter 4Hey! Didn't Elrond tell Katie Estel was the heir to the throne when he was explaining his name change in one of the previous stories? Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, can't wait to see if your version'll be different then the usual LOTR fellowship w/ OC! |
Faerthurin 2009-02-28 . chapter 6When you spoke of a new year, I was wondering about your timing, but you have it right. (I think I know so much, but I still get these things wrong.)
And speaking of timing, Aragorn's birthday is the first of Gwaeron (March). Unusually enough, it's written in LotR App B. The date translates, by my calculation, to the 22nd of February on our calendar. So yes, he's 87 at this time. |
Faerthurin 2009-02-28 . chapter 4I love the opening of the chapter, with the two girls teasing Legolas. I could so see Gilligan in his position.
Katie's a really nice character. I like her different view on Middle-earth, and her quick learning combined with odd bits of naivety (or is it just bits of knowledge no-one's told her?). She's lovable ... or more accurately, friend material. She easily befriends anyone except those (the enemies) who refuse. Even teasing Legolas so much doesn't mean he's not her friend, and I'm sure, on reflection, she'd count the beginning of their friendship at their first meeting. |
Faerthurin 2009-02-28 . chapter 2Oh, great work! But do you know, as well as loving the story, I find the review replies rather interesting too. If you're still looking for a horse beginning with F, there's Felarof (long o), the horse who threw Leod and then submitted to Eorl in payment. He was the first of the mearas. See LotR Appendix A under "The House of Eorl".
Thank you for writing,
Faerthurin / Theophilus |
Elanor 2006-07-30 . chapter 25 I've read all of your sequel's so far, and wow. The depth you use to describe moments, it's as if I'm really there. I also had a sneaking suspicion in the back of my mind when you were having conversations about the Athrabeth. I'm very happy to see that! And I know exactly what you're talkin' 'bout. Can't wait to read the next one! God Bless. ~Elanor |
freezeazy 2006-04-14 . chapter 1i love this series its really well put toghether and you need to make another. ( i'm also looking for a story were when frodo gets stabbed ( i'm talking about the first time ) they don't get him to help in time. and he terns into a ring rath. did i spell that rite.) i'm such an evil person i like those storys =D :) |
Lina Inverse the Dramata 2006-01-06 . chapter 17You know how I said she should get with Leggie? I take it back. I see them as hella good friends... but I get the feelings he's not quite for her. Don't get me wrong, she deserves a bit of fuzzy feelings- - but somehow I think the twins or some other obscure character might be closer for her... Gah I'm not a good guesser, but you get my point. Whoever or however this goes I'm enjoying it nonetheless. As for the interaction with the characters, I must say you have a very unique way of her meeting people. She doesn't make DEEP friendships, just casual greetings and conversations, and not with only the main characters but the more obscure ones too. You've managed to add a lot of depth to the characters and I've been enjoying this story a lot. |
Lina Inverse the Dramata 2006-01-06 . chapter 8*Teary Eyed* You killed Lalorn! I was beginning to like him! (not THAT way!)
*takes deep breath* Well this chap or two was depressing. I like and it's well written (but of course!) but sad. |
Lina Inverse the Dramata 2006-01-06 . chapter 3I never thought I'D say this... but I find myself hoping Leggie and her will pair off. Yeah silly I know. But I love how you've developed Katie as a person. Also I like how you added the notice of how she changed.
Ah well, I'll just PRETEND she gets one of the elves. ^_~
I love Legolas' sister. |
 Farothiel 2005-12-31 . chapter 19 HUH? i don't really get it |
Farothiel 2005-12-30 . chapter 5 so is katie now part of that Arda remade thing like her grandmother? |
Farothiel 2005-12-30 . chapter 4 Yay! An elf in my closet!! Which one? :-) this story is great. Are the twins gonna be in this one? |
