The largest thought I had whilst finishing this, keeping in mind your other stories written along the same lines, was, "Oh. That explains a lot."

Beautiful and poetic, as always. My favorite phrase, for some reason, was "his big rough hand"...probably because I've never really seen a more perfect yet simple description of that particular part of Gerik's anatomy.

I love the idea of her putting a piece of her soul into the ring. It fits with all the slightly unreal yet wonderfully appealing ideas you've put forth in some of your other works, much like the ethereal beings in The Man In The Boat.
