Oh this story rocks, you rock! Been scouring for some good Dukes reading and just found this tonight. Needless to say I gobbled the whole thing up in one sitting. Everyone was perfectly in character (and I love that song, so nice title too :), and you managed to whump both of the boys. Poor Sam Avery, but I guess if I had to decide between him or the boys, well...

I'm glad to see our cousins three got out of it alive. Shame that Avery had to die, but you can't win 'em all, and I suppose it does fit with the song you named this after.

I have to admit I got a kick out of that "Little Sister" line in the sixth chapter. :D I must've not been very awake when I read the prior chapters, cause I was wondering at that Little Sister bit all the time. It just sounded so.. off.. And then this rolls around and I'm like "D'OH, of COURSE."

OH, this was fantastic! I love introspective!Luke and hope to see more of him in the future. You did a really great job with Uncle Jesse's voice at the end, too. Denver Pyle was totally saying those words in my head. The level of research you did came across very strongly - kudos on the realism of the whole piece. I am *definitely* waiting for more from you, whether it's DoH or something else!

Ooh, I quite like this. You've got the voices of the three Dukes nailed. Interesting twists with the DEA and the Sheriff's involvement. I can totally see this as an episode.

I was hoping for more "Balladeer"-type interruptions, but maybe that would interrupt the flow of the story too much? As it is, this plays out as a more modern-day Dukes story (though not, thank God, like a modern-day movie version!)
