Sheshebens 2009-11-15 . chapter 23After hours of reading this work from start to finish yesterday, I am amazed, to say the least. Your pilot chapter tugged at my curiosity until I found myself completely mired in the plot.
The macabre motives you bestowed upon Victor foil those of Michael's, which I saw very fitting. However, you retain the creature's most prominent pitfall — his temper — and go so far as to explain his former life in great detail. You even give the reader reasons to pity Victor, especially after he kills Elizabeth in a fit of madness. This is a very realistic reminder of what we as humans are: tragically flawed but capable of redemption; souls full of desires easily tainted by ails of the mind.
And unlike some other fictions I have read, you include a plethora of alternate characters with their own unique personalities and problems; everyone has depth. Thomas is one of my favorites, with his "English oak" and all. I chuckled several times at that! Astrid's was a very sad tale, though, not to mention Victor's poor children.
I must also admit that I was very happy for Michael's and Therese's second chances at life and love. The way you word the mature scenes grants readers an amorous glimpse at the intimacies they share without sounding too raunchy.
Anyway... I could ramble on and on. Sleepiness has me feeling very talkative! Wonderful fanfiction. This would easily pass as a professional branch-off of Shelley's original novel in my opinion. You have a gift. Never stop writing! |
bitemebeezlebub 2009-07-26 . chapter 23Wow! That was a seriously amazing story. I will definatly read your other work. |
Helden 2009-06-03 . chapter 23I really did enjoy this story, being it to be the first Frankenstein fan fiction I have ever read. I'm sure it's one of the best. Thank you very much for such a wonderful story!
Cheers. |
 Cybernetic Mango 2009-05-06 . chapter 18Victor!
I don't understand why he's so..evil... |
Silkwing 2008-03-20 . chapter 23Yay! So pretty! I read Frankenstein only about a week ago and I really didn't think there would by many good fanfictions about it, or maybe not any. Even if I don't find another good Frankenstein story, I'm glad to have read yours. I'm going to go look at your other stories now, see if there's another one I'll like! ^-^ |
Vida 2007-06-20 . chapter 23 Well i have to say that your are prehaps the only fanfiction writer out there who has a clue what ther doing when they write a Frankenstein story! While others have the right idea you...you know the charicters inside and out.Your versian of the creature is just breathtaking. You make him sweet without being out of charicter, and your couldnt have made a better mate for him than Therese.I had a story like this in mind but now that I've read yours...well...I feel anything i could ever attempt to write would be a pale imposter to yours.I wish the Frankenstein section got more attention so we could have some of the truly great authors ,like yourself, write there one versions of our poor monster. Its funny though now i just want to call him Michael.Prehaps that is the name Mary Shelly would have given him herself. In any case i would truly love to see more of your work in this area, maybe a story of Michael and therese and their lives together? In any casse(If you can't tell by now) I LOVED "Storm Born". |
Spaztic Arwen 2007-04-24 . chapter 23the most beautiful and well written piece of fanfiction that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I cannot express how much I enjoyed this story, how much it chilled me and how I sat on edge, heart trembling from the suspense.
I am in awe. |
Fumblepaws 2006-07-30 . chapter 23Thank you for this story. It is beautiful and the characters are so true. You did a wonderful job of capturing the creature's/Michael's struggle. |
megumisakura 2006-03-19 . chapter 23i loved this story from the beginning and im happy for the wonderful end. it was very beautiful. im glad that michael and therese were finally happy.
thank you for writing such a wonderful story. |
dangerousdame 2006-03-13 . chapter 1What a beautiful story. You clearly understand what drove the charecters, something not alot of people do. |
 Lucia 2006-03-13 . chapter 23 Hi Kate!!
How beautiful, you finished Storm Born in Brazillian Librarian's day!!
I loved to read the last chapters together, and I think that you were so merciful with mad Victor, after all he made to MIchael, Astrid and Elizabeth! It is right, a family (in this case, his 3 children) can make a man settle down.
I am saddened for Herr Dierneg finishing his years alone, without what could be a tender relationship with Astrid.
For Therese's waiting, poor girl, I pitied her, thanks to you she was reunited with Thomas and Michael before despair!
I liked the light and humorous way (in my opinion) you described Thomas and Evelyn's relationship, it is great he finishing with a wife and confident that he had recovered from his impairment.
And, last but not less important, I loved how you built MIchael and Therese lives, with children and family, like any more commom people, I think that it is a great solution for them.
Could you write a intermediate sequel, showing the pregnancy, delivery and MIchael and Therese as parents? It would be very interesting.
Congratulations for your lovely and charming masterpiece!!

MadLizzy 2006-03-13 . chapter 23"Sometimes we sit outside and listen to the storms."
What a perfect way to end the story! That's a slam-dunk of a sentence.
I wonder what they hear in the storms?

MadLizzy 2006-03-13 . chapter 22I admire the "tightness" of your writing style for this story. The paucity of words is somehow completely appropriate for the grim tale. You make every word count, which is ideal. ~ML |
MadLizzy 2006-03-11 . chapter 21You described the intense action of this chapter in vivid detail. I could almost smell the smoke myself! I'm glad Michael destroyed Elisabeth's body.
“Creator, behold what you have created.” Great line! As is this one: “Are you my father, Victor? Was Astrid my sister? And if she was, what does that make you?” It gave me chills.

 Lucia 2006-02-25 . chapter 20 Hi Kate!!
I hope you didn`t mind I call you by this, I saw one of the another reviewers calls you like that, and your nickname is a bit big for me as a greeting.
Great work, this chapter is pure thriller - I could feel like if I was reading Dean Koontz's books!
I think that your Michael is better than Deucalion (is it a suitable name for so noble creature?!!)
I need to confess that as I read this chapter I am thinking to myself - why Thomas didn`t go away sooner? Why to be the prey so easily?
And I was admired by Victor thinking about the route Michael and Therese took to go to France. It shows that he knows his creature so well.
And poor Therese, alone in a unknown city... how long?
I liked the way MIchael spoke to Elizabeth before he arsoned the barn, indeed, it was the most perfect way to don`t allow Victor to reanimate Elizabeth`s corpse.
His thinking about her last moments with Victor (the fear and betrayal) was masterful and poignant.
Congratualations for your effort!
And thanks again!
