abuseHumor and Angst, how wonderful a combination this story is.

There certainly is a lot conveyed in the way you described the characters, Elizabeth particularly. The way she was in control of the situation and was still very much emotionally involved in it was extremely well conveyed. Nicely Written ^_^

abuseUm...it was half a solar system he destroyed, not a galaxy. If he'd destroyed half the galaxy, he'd have millions of lives on his hands. Solar system = (usually) one sun with planets in orbit around it. Galaxy = millions of solar systems rotating around a center point. Sorry, but this kind of thing yanks me right out of a story.

Other than that distracting mix-up, it makes a nice companion piece for your Intruder tag. I like how she knows some self defense; considering her job back on Earth, it makes sense. Between Duet and Trinity, it's a wonder the man can get himself up out of bed in the morning.

abuseVery nice way to deal with events. Odd to have him sobbing but figure it could happen. Feel sorry for the wall... and his foot.

abuseIt's not just about how he insisted on continuing to the point where he caused the destruction of a galaxy... and not also about wounded pride oor shaken confidence.
It's also about Rodney's desperation to try to quantify that poor man's death with some sort of positive outcome. He of course feels totally responsible for his subordinate's death, since he DID order him into the antechamber to make manual adjustments, but I think Rodney was desperate to try to find some reason for why it happened. If he could ONLY make the weapon work, then the poor man wouldn't have died for nothing. Instead, Rodney overdid it and almost ended up killing himself and John in the process, as well as destroying half of a galaxy.
Now he has to live with both things.
O, Linkin Park's "Lying From You" really applies to Rodney after that episode.

abuseWow, I love it! It's a beautiful piece. So absolutely in-character (I have no doubt that, in the right circumstances, Elizabeth would definitely tackle Rodney) and a wonderful portrayal of a friendship. Great post-Trinity angst, too. And the humor tempers it all so we don't start crying. Very, very well done.
