man, i never thought about that. that is a big plot hole. couldn't very well build it after they moved in, could they...hmm, well it is a kid's movie, we must be forgiving. good observation.

Yeah, I noticed that plot tunnel, too. I had more than a few complaints with that movie, actually, but particularly the idea that you could call in the contractors to excavate and install this secret complex under your house, without either your family or your neighbors noticing - that was too much. This works.
