This is a really good chapter, but I thought I'd just point out that, assuming they speak Chinese in China, when the medic said "her heart," it actually would have sounded exactly the same as if he had said "his heart."

I like that you did so much research/tried to make the story at least somewhat accurate, but this chapter is also somewhat dialogue-heavy, and although that was fine for this chapter, not more actions could have been described outside of dialogue.

It's awesome that Shang admitted that he knew about Mulan (and Huang), too, though. (yay! He's sweet. =P)

There are only three stories that I prefer so far in the Mulan category. 2 out of 3 make my favorites. Yours and Leap of Faith are the ones I truly like. The other one, The Work of Two, cannot compare to either of yours.

I consider a story is well written and in-character when I get that butterfly feeling in my stomach during romance scenes. Every single time you got me with that feeling. You took the characters, made them into your own, but yet at the same time kept their same personality. That's a trait that not many stories have, where they warp how the character acts to the point where it just sounds like a new character that just happens to look exactly like the character it is supposedly to be.

The only thing that put me down during this was the lack of detail. Granted, this was written four years ago, and I'm sure you've improved. But the story seemed to go by too fast. There was a little too much dialogue and not enough description of what was going on.

Other than that, it was a well written story and I can see how such a seemingly short fan fiction get over 200 reviews. I look forward to other works by you.

Thank you for writing such a great Mulan fic. I enjoyed every chapter, and was pleased with the clarity. (Makes me a bit shamed to say that last bit is something I need to work on...)

wow ^_^ i still love this story just as much as i did when i originally read it a year back ^_^ i love MULAN! i grew up adoring it as a kid and i just plain love Shang and Mulan together! Also i really love the Hua Mulan idea you came up with- incorporating the disney movie with the original Chinese myth/legend ^_^ now i might be the first person you came across who actually knew about that- not sure how widely known it is... But i stumbled upon it bout 6 months ago when i realised that the movie and credits implied that mulan was based on something as aposed to a pure fiction movie and so i look it up ^_^
yay i really loved the way you portrayed the characters and took the odd famous quote or line out of the movie and put it into your own work of art that was a true storyline to the original legend (what i remember of it at least... =P)
