I haven't read a good angst in quite some time. The angsty fics I've read before I couldn't even finish because they went overboard to the point where the character/characters sounded pathetic. Kind of killed my enthusiasm.
But you've made Piccolo's angst realistic and kept him in character which is quite a challenge, that alone deserves applause!
And as usual, the imagery is excellent, I can picture the setting and Piccolo's flashbacks clearly.
The relationship between Daimao and Piccolo take internal conflicts to a new level XD.

Well done, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. I try to keep my reviews to a minimum, but this was too good a story to keep quiet. The thoughts of Piccolo were strong and moving, simply because he is so sinical.

"The fragile crust that kept the geysers and mud pots in check gave way and freed a massive surge of magma, turning the area into a temporary version of hell." -That is, without doubt, one the the most vivid disciptive sentences I've come across. Makes me feel like I'm truly watching the event, very powerful indeed.

The plot is strong, wording vivid, and correct sentence structure and grammar. I solute you, it isn't often anymore that one comes across an author who can write with such style and finess.

Hope to read much more Piccolo based stories from you.

May I just say how much I liked this?

Actually, I think I'll say a bit more than that. I enjoyed the Daimao-Piccolo interaction through the ficlet. Honestly, I don't know where people get off thinking Vegeta imagines Frieza constantly hounding his every waking moment (dreams, perhaps, but not his daylight hours)... this is a *much* more credible situation.

Another part that caught my eye was this line: "And when Son Goku and all of humanity is dead and I am on the throne of Earth, I will have the power to seek a way to be rid of you!" It's not so much people who write Piccolo-centered fics that forget this, but everyone else seems to think Piccolo doesn't have his own inner demons he'd like excised, and they probably think he *enjoys* having someone coaching his every movement from Hell. It's a heck of a line, and one that's characteristic of Piccolo no matter who's doing the writing. ^_^ I like it.

And as always, I love the details. The story flows well from start to end, and each little "scene" melts into the other (the flashbacks in particular).

Basically, good premises, good descriptions, and good writing. (And nice insertion of Khri, too. Not too obvious that she would have taken over the scene, but not too subtle, either.) I hope you're able to update "Errant Exile" soon, too, though I don't mind the wait. It's worth it.

Hi! I liked this very much. Very well written: I could almost hear the voice of "the old man". And the descriptions in the beginning was really poetical ^^

I truly love you, Kieri! You are one of the greatest writers I've ever found on this site. You bring such a rare and acute insight to Piccolo. I love it!

This was so well written that I could envision the entire thing. Daimaou is a **. =D But Piccolo always pulls my heart strings.
