abuseahoy, mate!

Whilst surfing tonight, I came across this gem of yours once more. Thus I thought I would say again what a great gap-filler this is, and how much I love the Master & Commander-ish feel you give it. Excersizing the great guns - what a splendid visual! Very empathetic and well done. :-)
Cheers ~

abuseGood for you, thinking how to remedy the horrors the movie let us overlook! I almost broke into "Rule Britannia" at one point, the good commodore's attitude was so affecting. Ah, but good luck to him, finding any comfort for Elizabeth. Courage won't suffice there, we must fear.

abuseUh-oh! Norrington having doubts about his marriage with Elizabeth? *tsk* Not good. Ah, well, we all know how this turns out: Not Good for Norrington. Poor man. Commodore and -- what, around 30 -- and *still* not married? Yeesh! Get a move on, dude!

abuseWow. This is a flipping awesome story! There's so much to enjoy in it. Your characterisation is excellent, and I really like seeing what we don't see in the film: that Jack Sparrow's antics and crazy but successful plans come at a price, which is felt by the Navy men whom he essentially walks all over to get what he wants. Norrington and Gillette were always my favourite characters, and I really like how you've portrayed them. I didn't actually miss the slash, because even though I love it dearly, it wasn't necessary to make this story interesting. I especially love Norrinton's speech about the Navy, and all the metaphors with the teacup, and the line:
Did he dare to scoff, while only the width of a plank separated him from lightless depths, while he floated in a ship as fragile to the capricious sea as the porcelain in his hand? Such small barriers to separate a man from the eternal wild.
You captured the feeling of life on a ship, and the rational officers' struggles to deal with the supernatural things they had just witnessed. So besically, I really really love this story. Great work!

abuseAnother great story! Your ability to really humanize the characters has never yet ceased to amaze me. You make them more than what we see.

abuseYou know, I never thought of it but fighting living
skeletons would be pretty darn traumatic! Of course
the crew would be seriously spooked - I know I would be!
Poor James, he's realized he knows in his heart he's
going to lose Elizabeth - would it help if he realized
he never really had her?

BTW: there are two more chapters of RotS. ;)
